Popping in for a minute....They sent me for a instant drug test  and of course I passed :) Now I'm waiting for them to call me in to finish the paperwork. Guess I'll start full schedule on Thursday...today is just getting the UA and paperwork together.....Met lots of nice folk tho...very friendly place :)
EDIT: Thats okay Joelle, you aren't that far behind, I just got the offer yesterday :) One more thing...I thought I'd be making $14...but b/c of my work history, they gave me $15...feeling pretty cheesed about that :) |
:Good-Luck:GOOD LUCK!!!!!

YAY! That's great news! Don't forget we want to hear about everything. :winky: Are you home yet?? |
WELL!!! I am home, but closing up the college loop holes for DD for the Fall semester. What a headache that is!!
So, They called me back and said "Yup, passed the UA" but still waiting on my "Background Check" (Oh for heavens sake LOL!). I've never been arrested so I'm not worried. So I told HR I'd call after my doc appt tommorrow and come finish up the paper work then. I guess I'll be working with UPSTANDING and DRUG FREE citizens :D (The construction business? WOW! LOL!) VONN: Here's a cut/paste from another thread I explained the job: This is the "Scale House Operator" job. I'll be weighing the 'boys in their trucks" as they get loads of sand and gravel. New experience for me, but not that different from fast food LOL. They will pull up to my window, get weighed without the load, then drive in and load their truck, stop at my other window on the way out, get weighed again, and I'll give them a slip for the 'weight of the sand or gravel' they just bought. I like working in construction so this should be a fun job for the summer. It will end in Sept/October, then I can hang out for the winter again and do school full time. UPDATE: I was chatting with the lady who works all year there, alone in the winter, and she was reading magazines....said THIS is what she does when it's boring and slow....LOL...so I'll have my moments of not working tooooo hard for my pay. Mostly the long hours is going to be the hard part (usually 10 a day) PS VONN: DH is doing his drawings for a house he wants to build in Arizona...and of course it has an office for my MT work one day. He also has it planned to have farm animals. He's so cute. I told him that he has to do all that while I transcribe (taking care of farm animals). He said he was going to lock me in the house to make sure I am working and paying the bills :D LOL!! HE will be drawing his retirement pay which will be quite handsome from his 30 years in the IBEW/Union. |
lol good morning Vonn
congrats Jeannie, The extra dollar is always welcomed, be proud |
Quick update before I go to work:
The scale house is not 'open' yet. Not until the trucks are cleared to drive on the street. (Weight restrictions). So things are pretty boring and slow. Just learning to enter summer quotes in. Looks like when the doors open for the season, it will be pretty exciting and fun. I've been warned that I'll get lots of guys coming on to me (Oh gee, LOL). The real excitment came when I found out I am eligible for insurance and since this is a Union run company (:D) I will have FREE insurance for me and DH. That gives us 100% coverage now :) When you add in the benifits, it's more like $20 an hour :D WOO HOO!!!! Talk to ya all later........and prayers for all who are going thru difficult times right now! |
I can not express how happy I am for you Jeannie I am:Trapeze 2: for joy
My northern light of inspiration and friend I am so happy for you that this is working out,   the ins thing is a plus too kudos on this also:You-Rock: as with all jobs be safe ok Jeannie:hit-safe: peace love and all that good stuff frank;) |
So, Jeannie, how's the new job working out? Will tomorrow (14th) be your first full day? I'm so happy for you - and the insurance benefits sound great. You just can't put a price tag on good medical insurance.
Keep us updated on how it goes.....:) |
