Today is Queen Elizabeth II's birthday. My mother always admired Her Majesty greatly, and was deeply offended when she was criticized in the media. I tend to agree. I grew up in an era (back when Moses was still in the bullrushes) when being considered lady-like, dignified, and proper was taken as a compliment.
She's always been on my list of people I'd like to meet, though I'm sure I would turn into a blabbering idiot in her presence. Here's hoping she enjoys many blessings today!

I like the Queen too.
I've read books about her, and seen documentaries and historical shows about the Queen. During WWII, before she became the Queen, she worked as a mechanic and truck driver for the British military. Fixing jeeps and other vehicles. Apparently she was a pretty good mechanic and didnt want to give it up. She's the only Queen who has ever actually served an active role in the military.

Long live the Queen!!!
I was actually at Sterling Castle (kept wanting to call it Silverware Castle when I was trying to think of the name, LOL!) when they celebrated her b-day 4 years ago. There were kilted Scots armed with bagpipes, and lots of cannon fire!
