I'll tell you what, I'll be 58 years old next month, and I feel like the world's oldest living human. Every time I mention an old TV show I liked, or a golden oldie favorite, about 700 people post stuff like "I was a baby when that song was popular" or "I wasn't born yet when that show was on" or "What's a cassette player?"
On the rare occasion that somebody says "I'm 62" or "I have two great-grandchildren", I want to send a PM that says "I love you! I love you!" Don't get me wrong, I love all my friends here that are young enough to be my children and grandchildren. Hug hug hug. But I'm starting to feel like a nearly extinct species. Please tell me there are at least a couple of you that grew up in the fifties??

I'm 62. I've been married almost 43 years, my kids are 41, 35 and 21 and I have six grandkids. My son [21] told me yesterday that my DH and I are the oldest parents he knows!
Heck, I'm immature. Doesn't that count for anything? |

I am 51 and was dx last year. I thought I was too old for this "lovely" experience.

I will be 55 in Nov. so I can relate to your post. I remember having to dial the numbers on the phone, not push buttons.....mailing a letter for 5 cents.....getting mail delivered twice a day.....milk in glass bottles in your milkbox on the front porch...........penny candy at the corner store, black & white TV with 12 channels and no remote....I WAS the remote, standing there flipping channels until Dad decided what to watch!! riding my bike or roller skating without full body armor, having free run of the entire town without having the parents worry about 'weirdos'. Playing outside in the street until it got too dark to see, then you moved under the streetlight to continue to play.. Hours on the front porch with cut-out dolls, or our Barbies, listening to our transistor radios. In high school typing papers on a manual typewriter and having to do research at the library...not online! Cruisin around town for hours......gas was 39 cents a gallon!!! So you are not alone..... there are other "golden oldies" out here! |

You know, B2, rather than looking at it as age-d, consider yourself a revolutionary baby boomer on the cutting edge of technology!
Here, relax and have a nice bowl of AllBran.
