My baby boy could not hit the baseball off of a tee the year before last. Last year, he got a few little tiny hits - as in he would barely hit the ball and it would bounce out toward the pitcher.
Well, yesterday, my little guy steps up to the plate and whacked the ball out past 2nd base and hit himself an inside the park home run!!! I'm so proud that I tear up everytime I think about it. What an amazing thing! He has improved so much and I am probably the world's proudest mom right now.

Aaawwww! How cute. I'll bet he was so excited and proud of himself. That is awesome! You have every right to brag and be proud of him. That is a sign of the good Mom that you are.

How exciting for you!!
My eldest plays on the Rep team, attends a softball (fastpitch) academy for high school, and takes her ball very seriously. I remember when she was about that age, and we really needed a grand-slam to win the game. When my daughter got up to hit, her Dad yelled "$20 for a home run". The father next to him added "I'll give you $10 too". She looked at them with a twinkle in her eye, sized up that pitcher, and whacked the ball way out in the field for her home run. It's funny how much money can motivate them, even at that age. Enjoy these years because of course a home run gets harder and harder. A beautiful grounder that gets almost to the back of the field, usually only nets a first or second base run (now that everyone knows how to position themselves and throw hard). Congrats to your son too! Cherie

Wowee and woohoo!!!
My little guy wasn't much of a ballplayer early on, either. He'd even trot out to the outfield w/o his glove and have to run back for it, Lol! It's so great to see them improve and excel. That son is 28 now and we spoke of his big homerun in the playoffs just recently. He still remembers all the family members who were there to see him bat. Wouldn't have missed it for the world. Congratulations to your Babe Ruth!!!

Congrats to your little slugger!! Nothing builds self confidence like a good hit, he must be feeling so proud. All three of my sons played little leauge, and I remember(long time ago), the happy car rides home if they had a good game. Now, I watch my grandsons play and I'm just as proud. Way to go to both of you!!
