So sorry to hear that. Hopefully, you will get a new batch that are healthy. They are cute:)

On another note, my rooster wasn't a Polish rooster. I checked it out. They have too much on the top of their heads. Mine was some other kind of oriental variety I believe. It had some feathers sticking up on the top of the head but not like the Polish variety. We called him "Wildman"!

Two were dead when they arrived (that happens), but seven more died yesterday and two more today. :( We have ordered from McMurray Hatchery several times and have ALWAYS been very satisfied, so I have emailed them about this batch. Bob said they looked "poor" when they came. We'll see what their response is.

Well, that just ticks me off.. Poor little fellas..:(

The packers should take every precaution to keep that from happening..the Jerks..

NO NO NO, we don't think they are "jerks" at McMurray at all! I talked with a very nice woman on the phone. She gave me some suggestions to try to perk them up. They have a 48 hour guarantee after arrival, but she said to call her tomorrow afternoon even though it would be technically past the deadline, etc.

Sometimes the stress of the trip is too much for the little guys, and there was some pretty cold weather on their trip. We would recommend buying poultry there!

Ahh, I'm sorry. What causes this? Is it the stress of shipping? Poor things. I hope all the other little peeps make it.

Oh, OK, I guess if you can forgive them, I can. Maybe it's just not the best idea to ship animals and chicks like that??

I remember my younger days and chicks were always shipped like that. It's just a normal thing from way back as I recall. And good companies do stand behind their chicks:)

Update! Update! We lost 12 babies altogether (insert sad face here), but I just got off the phone with McMurray Hatchery and talked with yet ANOTHER nice woman--is everybody in Iowa nice, or just the chicken people? :D

Anyway, they're shipping out the replacements on Saturday morning, and we ordered another dozen because there is a minimum number you can ship--they have to be able to keep each other cozy on the way. We didn't HAVE to buy more, but the extras they would have sent free would have been full-size chickens, and we chose not to deal with it.

So Bob is sad to have had little hearts stop beating, but he is happy because now he will have even more babies than originally planned.

So, 5 stars to McMurray for their customer service! (And cute chicks)
