Oh I like stories like this! Congratulations!!! :D I hope you'll get years of happiness from your new doggie.

We have our second cat now from a shelter. They have been the best two kitties we've ever had! And it's true, you have to see that initial spark of a connection.

We got our late cat Sweet Pea when she was 8 years old from the shelter. She was near death, but I fell in love with her and nursed her back to health. She lived another 12 years and gave us years of happiness. She was a sweetie.

Now we have Rocky who is nearly two years old. He's pure love. :D He wants to cuddle and snuggle and likes to be carried like a baby by me and DH. He's lots of fun and gets plenty of attention, you should see his toy collection! lol He came from a cat hoarding home so he was in pretty bad shape for awhile when we got him at six months old.

The shelter had neutered him and gave him all his shots though. I feel so lucky that we found him!

Pretty much every one of our cats was adopted in one form or another (one adopted us). The funniest one was when we got our cat Rascal from the shelter...we had been looking at a really cute little fuzzy tabby, but he had a touch of feline rhinovirus and wasn't real active, so it was hard to gauge his personality.

I was about to give up and leave to come back a few days later to see if they had any new arrivals or if the tabby would perk up. I made one last pass by te rest of the cages and there was a pile of 3 black and white kittens...two boys and a girl.

Right as I was about to move on to the next one, I heard this little meeeooow!!! and the little girl stood up from under her two brothers, climbed over the top of them and came to the front of the cage, marching her little feet and purring like mad.

Needless to say after a period of playing with her and holding her, she came home with us. She is around 5 years old now, and to this day, she still announces her presence every time she comes in the cat door if we are in the house. She will walk through the house meeowing and looking for us until she finds us...only then will she go back to the kitchen and get a snack or a drink of water, even though she walked right by them on the way in the cat door.

I love stories like this, Sox!

Thank you for adopting Molly. She might have just been a little frightful of where she was supposed to go. Your patience paid off.

Oh and Brain~ I just remembered how much I love your funny stories!

Keep them coming. You always have such a comical way of telling them.

SOXMOM you made a great choice. Beagles are very friendly, devoted
and playfull. The only thing that is different they don't have the usual
bark they HOWL because they are in the hound family.

My dh and I used to breed beagles many years ago. Keep the leash on
even when you are in the house. This is for training purposes.
Using the lease when you call to them to come, just pull it to you
lightly and then give the dog a great praise and treat if you want.
It takes awhile but well worth the time and repitition.

There are so many good Dog Training books that you can pick up.
The best are written by Ceaser Milan The Dog Whisperer.

Wishing you and the family many happy years with the new member
of the family.

Jappy :)
