Well, Ive been wanting to do this for a while. So today I went with my
children to the local animal shelter to look at a dog. The dog we
went to look at was cute, but there was something. As I was talking
to the girl about her, I notice my children and a beagle making great
friends.....

Well, I took the beagle home and I really feel she will be a great fit.
Shes super with my kids and even though she wasnt what I was
looking for, she was...... She kinda found us. Her name is Molly and
she is great......... what a love.

I just wanted to share as the whole family is excited about our
new member.

My friends all think Im nuts, but a girls gotta do what shes gotta do.....

Awww Sox.....that's wonderful!! Shelter animals make such good pets - and they are so grateful for the love of a family. Take some pics for us so we can fall in love with her, too!!

Just wanted to add, they are notorious wanderers so on-leash only for dear Molly.

You don't decide so much by breed, how much they eat, or how bad they're gonna shed.

You look in their eyes, watch that tail wag. And they look into your hearts. You know you're a match. You just do.

Molly... I like her name. Don't spoil her too much, lol.

Congrats Soxmom - the shelter is a great place to find a pet and that is the best way to find a dog by letting the dog find you!!!

Every time I have gotten one that is how I do it too, wait to see which one comes to us!!

Best of luck - I had a 3 legged beagle when I was in high school - a great breed but they love to run so be careful he doesn't go close to the road!

Thanks everyone, and thank you for the tips on the leash only. That is
what they told us at the shelter. I like having her on the leash as there
are so many wild animals where I live, Molly would never make it back home
if she took off. Yup, so the leash it is.

She seems to be doing great. She has not ventured upstairs to the bed
rooms , though Im sure she will eventually. We brought her to my parents
so Molly has already met Grandma.

We are really happy.......(I say that , but Ill report back in the morning.)

yes we got a lab mix from the shelter years ago..she was about 6 or 7 months old...and adorable with those eyes....wanting us....and they had a policy..that animals cant be adopted out till they are there a certain amount of days...it wasnt her day yet..but they wouldnt let you pick ahead...so I recall the day she was gonna be free to adopt....the kids were in school and I was at work...

hubby was sooo concerned others would be there for her, he was there 20min early for open....the lady was so touched....Sandy is our family dog...and she was a keeper...
