Default SCAM - Warranty Service Calls

I don't know what is going on lately but I have received so many calls about my warranty service for my car expiring.

I just got one on my cellphone and when the lady came on the line she asked for the year and make of the vehicle. I gave her my new standard response, a '65 Chevy truck (so, it's DBF but she didn't need to know that). She said, "Wow is it still running?" I told her yes . I than told her I was glad that it was still under warranty and what a great service they are providing to extend the warranty on the truck. All I heard was a click.

Have you all been getting a lot of these "scam" calls lately?

OMG everyday I come home and there is a call on the answering machine about the car warranty. And now I am getting them on my cell phone. And my car warranty is still in effect and not even close to expiring.

May I borrow your reply . Sounds like fun!

I also went back to the do not call registry and reregistered my phones

Shelley - borrow it any time. They always hang up and I am sure I have been removed from many lists using such random nonsense. I do this kind of stuff all the time when I get these kinds of calls.

I got one of those about a month ago. It was a computer that called and told me to hold for a "representative" about my car insurance.

I was like "what the heck is this about", so instead of hanging up, I waited.

The person who came on the line a few seconds later was rude. He wanted me to give him information about my car and my parents car. He said he needed to check something, and when I asked him why he didnt have that information if he was calling to check something, that's when he got really nasty.

I started to have a bit of fun with him. I started asking questions about the warranty...about how long it lasts, and how much the cost was to extend it. He was having trouble answering me and he finally hung up on me.

I hate people who try to scam us.

sometimes its just too much fun to play with these people. I love giving random nonsensical replies and make them hang up on me.

I LOVE the 65 truck routine. I am gonna have to use that one.

Too funny! We were just talking about this at work because I had just received a call on my cell phone. The other guy has been receiving them too. We were wondering if it was a scam or not. I guess so!

Thanks for the tips on getting these guys back. I like the 65 truck idea.

Haven't had that one yet. Both my numbers are on the do not call list, so hopefully I won't have a chance to borrow that fantastic '65 Chevy line!

Ironically, it seems that my warranty was extended recently and a recalled part is up for grabs. There hasn't even been any trouble with the car! Isn't it odd that HondaAmerica sent me a detailed description of the situation with my VIN and everything!?! LOL, what if I had gotten a call from them!!!

Both my son and myself were getting a lot of these calls on our cell phones. My son doesn't answer any call that has an unfamiliar number.

For myself - my cell phone stays in the car and doesn't get used much.

We live in an area where reception can be hard to come by although it's entertaining to watch teenagers walking around the house, cell phones held high, checking each window for the best reception.

If you google the phone numbers you will probably find quite a few complaints.

Yes, but I haven't really got the phone calls, just the flyers in the mail. But, the warranty really did expire.

Hmmm, we really have an old, very ugly, 1967 Ford junker pickup. I'll make sure and inquire about the warranty on that, teehee!
