Sounds like a blast!

Keep your hands to yourself! No pokin' pilots to see if they are meaty!

That kind of stuff makes me cry. They showed a clip on our local news of the Vermont Air Guard doing a flyover of Fenway Park and I was almost sobbing.

They are wonderful! We have an annual Freedom Festival, about 2 weeks long. For about the last 5 years we have been able to have the Blue Angels or a team like them. They have their show down at our riverfront but they practice for about 2 days prior to. So we see them all over the city practicing and don't have to pay the $15 for a Freedom Festival ticket which gets you into multiple events. The most popular is the hydroplane races. We have a couple of big parking garages at the hospital I used to work at and we would go up to the top and watch the planes. it was also a great place to watch the fire works. Plus you were right at your car and had a head start on all the other people on getting out of all the mess.

The retirment home my Mom lives in is a 100 + year old building downtown close to the river in the historic district. Her windows almost rattle off her walls during their practice (the planes)

OK, I'm used to this now!

I can never say "have a nice time". I rarely can even say "have a happy birthday" because our time differences are too different, sooooooo..............

I hope you had a wonderful time at the show DM, and I'm assuming here that you took photos. If you didn't, you've got a whole lot of explainin' to do young lady!

Waiting for DM to post photos of Air Show!

I was involved with Naval Aviation for my whole six years that I spent in the Navy. I think that the Blue Angels are the best! I also think that Navy pilots can't be beat.

Can you imagine how hard it is to land a fighter jet on a pitching carrier deck in the dark?

Those guys are the best!

I hope you had a great time, DM!

My Dad was on a carrier (maybe two?) during WWII and he always spoke of the pilots with great admiration because of what Steve mentioned. Anchors Aweigh.

Um, Anne, it will be a long wait. DM's... how to say it... talents... lie in other, uncharted areas.

Currently, she has a high ambition to learn how to bookmark a webpage.

Oh my gosh! The show was amazing. They saved the Blue Angels till the last and I was not disappointed. I kept thinking when they flew towards each other, that they would hit. (Such precision) Oh, and after each performance, a huge truck would bring the pilots by the crowd, so we were pretty up close and not as personal as I'd have liked>

The pilots kept dedicating the show to our military past and present, so it was very touching. I felt so patiotic and yes, a little choked up at times. My Dad was a WWII vet and just seeing those WWII planes brought back memories of my Dad's war stories.

We parked right in the front row, as DH had a VIP parking pass, so I didn't have to walk far at all to the company tent, which was huge. (how did they KNOW there was a Princess onboard???)

The sun was warm, but there was a nice breeze, so I kept cool.
And, they had such good food, plenty of drinks and potty's right there for us.
They also had the jet fueled truck called "Shockwave" that has a max speed of 376 mph. It was amazing.
Oh, and a guy (who must have been crazy) stood on top of a biplane while the pilot did his act. He did have a back board that he leaned against and I think a seatbelt, but I held my breath a couple of times when the pilot did a loop.

So, even tho I can hardly move today, it was sooooo worth it.

*some of the pilots of the aerobatic planes are ret AF.* And, there were 4 pilots from Illinois....

Oh and the Blue Angels are HOT and I'm not talking about temperature. Vavava Voooooooom!

Glad you had a great time DM. I have seen the Blue Angels about
3 times.
They used to have the big Air Show every year in May here at the
Lakehurst Naval Base.

My DH who was a State Forest Firewarden had to each year set up
a command post for the fire service just in case there was an accident
that could cause a forest fire. The base is completely surrounded by woods.

So each year I would get to go and see the show.

The last show was the saddest. There was a crash with two Blue
Angels and one pilot was killed, after that there wasn't anymore air shows

We also got to see "Big Albert" that is the monster cargo plane that
has all the equipment and anything else that has to do with the Blue Angels
except the Jets of course. The extra personel that has anything and
everything to do with the care of the Jets and Blue Angels .

I know the guys that you seen are not the same as the ones I saw
but I am sure they all look as you say VaaaaVooom
