Default Right To Hike

The friends of Meredith Emerson (the GA hiker who was brutally murdered on New Years Day 2008) have started a non profit organization called Right To Hike. They are trying to provide GPS devices for hikers to rent while they are in the woods. If they get lost or worse they can push a panic button and help will be sent. My oldest son is a part of this group.

If you're interested in learning more about this wonderful group of young people trying to make a positive difference after a horrible crime please go to my profile and click on my home page.

Thanks!!

Kelly that is so outstanding what these young kids are doing. What a great idea. You must be proud of your son for helping out with this program that will be so helpful to many.

Consider it done. Kelly, this story is so horrid. It's still on the news at least weekly. I hope they hang that fellow.

What an amazing thing this organization is trying to do, Kelly. That whole story just infuriates me and is so sad.

This is an awesome way to remember her by. Now that I'm recovering and feeling better DH and I planned on going hiking.

There is also an organization called Women of the Outdoors and the GA chapter has an event for the women to do the Len Foote hike the day after Thanksgiving this year. They've rented the whole lodge. I hope to be able to do this.

Having gone thru gun class and self defense class I'm feeling much more confident of defending myself here at home. My next class will cover self defense when I'm out doing things like shopping or when me and DH go downtown to eat. And also what to do if the attacker has a gun.

DH plans on getting a 20 gauge shotgun so we walked thru senarios if someone was to break into our home. We decided who would do what. We feel much more prepared now.
