When we had our house built back in the ice age we left the lower level unfinished to save on the price. So when our oldest daughter became a teenager we made part of it into a nice bedroom for her. Well now the kids are gone. When she comes home she still uses it but mainly it stays empty. When we bought a new bed and put our kind size bed down there the kids told us it looked like a hotel room. They even snitched a Gideons Bible out of a hotel room and put it in the desk drawer!
Back to the story. The retirement appartment complex that my Mom lives in used to have an empty two bedroom apartment that they left empty so that guests could stay there free. They finally rented it out. So now my brother doesn't have anywhere to stay when he comes to visit. He had been staying at a local motel cause we couldn't convince him to stay here. Well now everyone does what they can do to save money so he is finally coming to stay with me! So now I am making up a regular 'hotel brochure' just like the real hotels have. I am going to go to Kinkos and print it up on colored card stock and put it into a binder. I have a list of local attractions, emergency number (my Mom), my complementary continental breakfast menu. I'm making a basket of sample things. I even have the new pool I bought for my grandkids in my faily room which for him will be my lounge. So what if it's only 5 ft across and has no water. His wife will probbaly here him laughing all the way to Cincinnati! I love him. |

Dont forget to put mints on the pillows. And leave a fruit basket (of plastic fruit) on a table in the room.
and have the tv remote permanently attached to the bedside table.

Doydie that is so incredibly sweet of you. What a thoughtful idea. I can tell how much you love your brother and how excited you are to have him come stay with you. I hope you have a great time while he is there.

Now all of Neuro Talk will want to book into the Doydie Hotel, knowing the service is so personalized. Put grab bars up everywhere!!!! Sounds much better than many places I've stayed in. Where do you live?

What a blast, he'll laugh out loud.
Don't forget the mini shampoo/conditioner/lotion/shower cap/shoe polisher towel, and the little laundry bag, oh! and do give him a do not disturb/clean room sign! Oh my gosh, that is just too funny! I'm going to copy you and do my guest room that way!!! *off to search for a low-quality, hideous bedspread*

That is so cute. I just fixed up my guest room in Casablanca style. Hmmm, it does have the feel of a Branson/Vegas set up. Even the bathroom across the hall matches. lmao

This is hysterical. I hope you post pics when it's all done. Let us know how the visit goes and his reaction, too.

I even have a 'loaner housecoat' for him. It's a beautiful pink chenille!!!!! Bad thing is that whn we had the house built, the only part of the lower level we had finshed was the bathroom. It is right next to this bedroom. It was the weirdest bathroom, long and narrow. Shower and commode on one end, massive empty area then a tiny sink. So we bought a small kitchen cabinet, put the sink in it and also sank a two burner hotplate into it. Then we bought an aprtment size refrig. But not long after we moved in the sewers all built up and we have 13 inches of raw sewage in our lower level. !300 sq feet of raw sewage 13 inches deep!!!!!! So we have had to cap off all the plumming in that bathroom.
So I technically have this wonderful bathroom with kitchen facilities right next to this bedrrom but we can't use it. so we have a lot of storage room! |

First of all, I don't have a fancy home to begin with but here is my 'guest room'. You can't see it well but i have a pink housecoat on the bed along with a fresh towel set.

This is my 'swimming pool'. We had waterproofing this year and we haven't buiklt the room around it yet. So the walls are kind of bare and our ping pong table hasn't got put together yet. But it's just my brother and he will understand the mess.
