I don't think DH understands how upsetting it was to find those cute black great leather sandals no longer go over my swollen bad foot anymore, swollen even though I'm non-walking and in a wheelchair. Another loss. My insistence at wearing a certain dress for out to lunch yesterday although was hard to put on and I needed assistance getting in and out of. Then finding out sandals couldn't be worn!!!! My insistence on another pair despite his insistence the white sneakers could be worn() I care about my shoes, have already given up so many!!!

Women and their shoes, eh?
I have one daughter that lives for new shoes, and her Dad humors her in that regard. She's been like that since she was old enough to wear them, as well as everyone else's that she could get her hands on. So, I do appreciate your disappointment, even if I don't share the same passion. Flip flops and slippers . . . that's all I need. I learned that early, since I have bad bunions. Giving up shoes, especially those suitable for the work world, was an easy transition for me. Oh, and I bought these nice black sandles from Payless Shoes last year that have a criss-crossing string in them. I like that I can loosen the string, if the heat is getting to me. BTW, are you able to participate in a stretching/excersize program of any sort, to try to keep the swelling down in your legs/feet? Cherie

I held on to so many favorite pairs of shoes for years after I could no longer wear them (just in case) before I finally...uh...wait a minute. Still have them. *sigh*

We just feel prettier in nice shoes!
Had to give up my pumps when I broke my ankle in Feb. Ankle still swells and balance isn't as good. There were some cute sandals on QVC or HSN that could be adjusted here and there to allow for whatever your foot issues were. Kind of spendy, but something to maybe check out. Sorry I cannot remember the brand name.

I understand. They might not even be expensive shoes, you just want to look nice.
I have small feet on top of it. I order now online to get the size I need. I need something flat with support and looks good. Oh, and is not pink w/bows or Dora the Explorer!

Thank goodness my daughter can wear my high heels. I can't wear anything higher than 2 inches and it took me a year to be able to do that!! Then all the hemming I had to do to my slacks!! I am still not done.
Yes, shoes can make an outfit. They do help you feel put together. No one can fault you for trying to look your best. |

Hugsss
I am not even a shoe lady...really only own 5 pairs..and one is my work shoes... anyhow, the other day I see some wonderful red sandle type shoes..but with heel to them...I had them on...then almost fell over as fighting balance that day.....my mom was telling me to buy them they are sooo cute on me.. but reality set in, and I realized they would be dangerous to me, with my balance issues, or walking issues....(undx but have these issues) anyhow....even though not a shoe person...I almost cried on way out of the store...feeling a loss...of having to say not to buying these cute shoes.... My mom said Sarah you can buy them wear them on good days....but my days can go back and forth so easily....doing fine then all of a sudden have issues with balance...and with little kids in tow...heels werent gonna work without hurting if balance become issue with those on...I was being smart...but sad... so I hear ya...sorry long story....I hear ya on feeling a loss at such things...hugssss, sarah |

Kicker, sorry that happened. I do know what you mean because Jim goes through this too. One time he had to wear gym shoes with a suit! They were black but still. His feet swell and we have settled on velcro shoes and flip flops now. Some day I will find dress shoes with a velcro closure for him. I will keep looking.
