Now, I thought this was funny, but I'm never sure if something is offensive to somebody or not. I'm pretty conservative along that line, but you never can tell.
For example, I'm blonde but I don't think blonde jokes are offensive. But if somebody says "I'm ready for the short bus" I get upset and say "That's not funny, that's nothing to joke about!" Anyway here is what I read somewhere and I thought it was funny. You tell me if it is or not: "I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order like they're supposed to be."

I think this IS funny.
We tease my DD who is probably the most organized person I know, that she has a touch of OCD, and she WOULD want those letters in alphabetical order!! She is a special education teacher and being organized is very necessary in her profession but it does carry over into other aspects of her life. She rides her horse in competitions & on show days everyone involved gets a computerized print out with a timetable and their assigned 'roles'! We now realize this is her way of being in control and staying calm so we take our 'assignments' with a smile and off to the show we go! |

I think it's funny B2Y .....and I'm another one who doesn't like "short bus" jokes.
I don't get offended easily. I joke about my condition to my family and to those on this board whom I've gotten to know (and know that it won't offend them). I think you have to joke a little and have a sense of humor about things....but I would never make a joke about someone else's condition unless I knew that it wouldn't hurt their feelings.

It is funny, not crazy funny, but still funny. And, what is wrong with calling it a 'short bus', it is shorter than most.

I think its funny and I have minor OCD about certain things LOL!
Short bus is not funny....to answer wkikta's question...it isn't because it has always been used as a derogatory term for the impaired, much as a certain word Jesse Jackson recently used is.

back when many used short bus as a negative term for disabled ppl ...along with kids wacking there chest and saying I take the short bus home..haha
I dont find it too funny either due to the old negative status of short bus, due to my daughter who is speech delayed takes the short bus over to her school...a school for any disabilities... anyhow, the abc one is funny..hugsss, sarah |

Holy Christmas, Batman! That's hysterical. It's almost too subtle.....
But then again, I love poking fun at anything and anyone and myself best of all. My grandson was dx'd w/ADHD. My daughter's favorite joke is: Question: How many kids with ADHD does it take to change a lightbulb? Answer: Wanna go ride bike? Ouch..... I died on that one. It's SO true of him. Sometimes it's the ones that are true that hit you as the funniest.
