There is a song by Trace Adkins that I can't get out of my mind. I'm at a very bad place in my life right now. I can honestly say I have never felt more down and I'm so bitter and sad and mad. There are good things, too, that I keep losing sight of.
I keep thinking about this song because I have never wanted to rush through my life trying to get to the next better thing and miss out on the wonderful moments in the present. There is a saying that goes: "Yesterday's the past and tomorrow's the future. Today is a gift — which is why they call it the present." I really wish I could do a better job living in the present instead of wishing it away hoping for a better tomorrow. So, I am going to try to start living in the moment and enjoy now even if things aren't great or what I "think" they should be. At least I have my hubby, kids and Grandma and those are some mighty good blessings. I want to share this song with my Stumble Inn buddies: You're Gonna Miss This by Trace Adkins She was staring out the window of that SUV Complaning, saying "I can't wait to turn 18" She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules" Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you" You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But you're gonna miss this Before she knows it she's a brand new bride In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by He tells her "It's a nice place" She says "It'll do for now" Starts talking about babies and buying a house Daddy shakes his head and says "Baby, just slow down" Cause you're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But you're gonna miss this Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater Dog's barkin', phone's ringin' One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin' She keeps apologizin' He says "They don't bother me. I've got 2 babies of my own. One's 36, one's 23. Huh, it's hard to believe, but ... You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But you're gonna miss this"

Just to make you feel a little better, he also sings "One Hot Momma" I think you should add that to your list of theme songs. On a serious note, meditation how I've been learning how to focus on the here and now. It's very hard for me, but it's working.

I love this song and remind my boys and husband of it when they are fussing over something. I remind myself too.

I'm sorry you are struggling so. Just keep reminding yourself of "the present" that is this moment. I appreciate that sentiment alot. It's difficult, especially on a feeling crummy kind of day not to be down. You know you're not alone, as long as we all stumble along together. Thanks for sharing the song. 's

I just saw a commercial - he's playing for free here at Little Creek this Friday - saw him last year and I know he'll be singing this song again!

Thanks everyone. I just wanted to remind myself that things will get better and I have to do a better job of focusing on the good things and not wallowing in the bad. I also wanted to share the sentiment with all of you. It can be so hard dealing with everything that we all deal with and it is easy to lose sight of the good things.
So, I guess this is my "pull myself up by the boot straps" and get on with living thread. I'm going to go have lunch with a dear friend today and now I'm looking at the good stuff.
