My DS had her first visit with the oncologist today. Even though the PET scan showed no cancer he said that it would not be able to show any microscopic cancer cells. So even though she had said all along that she would not take any chemo she is going to go for one round which will last about 6 months. I feel saddened for her that she made this decision when she said that she wouldn't and also glad that she made it. Am I crazy?

Crazy? I don't think so, Doyd. Chemo is horrible to go through for a patient and hard to watch for family & friends, yet, losing a sister is even harder. I think you're just human.

It really is tough to go through, but it's like an insurance policy. My dear SIL Patricia had chemo though it wasn't mandatory following fallopian cancer. It was very hard for her to go through and she's still recovering and regaining her strength. She spent her summer with the chemo treatments and feeling sick.

Maybe it gives your sister some peace of mind that just in case there is still a tiny spot of cancer hidden somewhere, this will wipe it out.

I think that what you're feeling makes perfect sense!

We had fun and went wig shopping today. It was amazing that the wig she chose would be the wig I would choose for myself if I ever needed one. Of course we had to end up with ice cream. Wigs look amazing these days. The shop owner said she had one customer that has bought like 6 wigs, all different colors and styles to go along with her and her husbands fantasies!

doydie,

I pray everything goes well with your sister. I am sure that she is scared and it's great that you are so close and are going through this with her.

It's funny about the wigs because my best friend's sister is very very conservative but bought herself several different colored wigs. She actually had a lot of fun with them and I'm sure that helped her through her therapy to be able to change her look.

I finally had my mammogram about 2 weeks ago and all was well. I was late having since my recent pacemaker surgery makes it hurt a little more than normal. It came back normal.

Take care.
Hugs,
Becky
