Heart Paul McCartney Visited Oklahoma City

It was so nice to pick up the newspaper this morning and see such a cool article on the front page about Paul McCartney. It seems like nothing is reported but crime, politics and bad news.

I was 13 years old when the Beatles came on the scene and it was an incredible time. My sister and I had every record they made. We had magazine, posters and everything Beatle we could get our hands on. We didn't get to see them live but they sure are a huge part of our teenage memories to this day.

Not only is he still a great performer but also a great man who treats people well.

I posted the URL for anyone who wants to read it and smile a little bit.

I like the Beatles too, Becky. And esp. Paul McCartney. "My Love" is our song!

DH and I went AWOL from a coach tour of Great Britain for a day. We rode the train to Liverpool and took the Magical Mystery Tour in a big yellow bus!

I never knew that "Strawberry Fields" was actually a sanatorium for disabled kids. Yoko Ono still personally sees to it that they get a good Christmas every year. If I remember right, John heard a marching band playing there (it was over the fence) and asked his Mom what that was. She told him and he responded, "Someday I'm going to play in a band." He was only 5 years old.

Twink,

"My Love" is a great song. How sweet that it's you and your hubby's song.

There are so many great Beatles songs, I don't think I could even choose a favorite one but I do love "Maybe I Amazed" and "Yesterday" by Paul.

Wow, you got to go to Liverpool!!! That is too cool.

I didn't know the story behind "Strawberry Fields" or maybe I just forgot. I'll have to ask my sis. LOL

Thanks, Beck, it is nice to see a positive story. The Long and Winding Road has always been my hands-down favorite from those boys. I wish I could have seen them live, what a trip that would have been!

AMN,

My sister got tickets to see them in Dallas and our Dad would not let her go because she was only 15 years old. Our Dad was very strict and would not change his mind even after she bought the tickets and her friend's parents were taking them.

She has never forgiven him for that and she is going to be 60 in December.

NO WAY!!!!!!!!

Well, at least she let him live, I'm not sure my dad would have survived it!

He was two blocks from my aunt and uncle who are huge Beatles fans! Joliet Illinois will never be the same. They didn't even know he was there until the following Tuesday. Ugh I knew I should have taken a ride on old route 66 that day.

Yes, it's true.

Dad would not budge on his 15 year old daughter going to Dallas to see the Beatles. He was a drill instructor in the Marines and talk about strict. He was unreal with the two of us. No back talk, we just followed his orders. He has mellowed now, thank heavens.

My Sis had to sell the ticket and she was just devastated.

BFF,

My brother has seen him in concert several times and said he was just amazing. He has seen lots of concerts but said Paul's was his favorite by far. Especially when it's just Paul and his piano! I just love him.

I would have flipped out if I had seen him at the Bricktown restaurant! He said in the article that he is coming back through OKC so I'm sure everyone will be looking out for him.
