I kinda like pink......but I'm kind of a girlie-girl. Plus, that color looks good on me. Funny though...I only have a couple of things in pink (besides undies). I do agree that they've gone overboard in a few areas with the pink stuff. I mean, pink shovels??? That's just sorta creepy.....

Barbie wouldn't be proud of my house but I do love pink! I don't see a whole lot of it but I do think it is a great idea to donate to the cure!

I think my point was kinda that I am tired of all of the guilt. there are many GREAT products out there, and I really love them for me and my home, but you see a pink vacuum next to a blue vacuum, and you think, "well, if I buy the pink one, they donate 5% to the susan G foundation" then you look at the price, and its 10% higher than the EXACT same vacuum, except for the color. so, truly its ME ME ME thats donating that money, its just Nike/dyson/kitchenaide/rubbermaid/johnson&johnson or whom ever that is now getting the nice tax write off. So, its a GUILT thing. If I dont have pink socks/ and the pink ribbon on my shoes, and the pink vac, and the pink sewing machine, and the pink water bottles, with the pink sleeve it goes into, then I must not care about breast cancer.

I was walking the other day, and a neighbor saw me sip on my water bottle. She said "dont you LOVE that bottle? I have the same one, but I got the pink one to donate to the Susan G foundation. I asked her how much she paid, and she told me. I revealed to her that my bottle EXaCTLY the same, bought at the same store, was more than 10% less! simply because it wasnt pink.

so, and here is my rant for the day.

How is it that Nike/kitchenaide/kenmore/target/ and so on, get to haul in MORE money for the same product, AND enjoy a greater tax break because they got us to pay MORE for the same product?

Please dont mis understand me, I give and I give lots and often. I also give of my time, talents, and energies, not just my cash. I am just tired of being guilted into paying higher prices in the name of a better tax break for them.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they are giving, but shouldnt it come out of THEIR profit?

Absolutely it should. And this should show us all something about the integrity of product manufacturers. They're all willing to take the credit for money that we as consumers chose to donate by purchasing their products. But they are not willing to donate out of their profit. Just another example of how big companies operate. It's all about "them".

i would rather just have the pink ribbon logo on something i purchase ( or the logo for whatever cause) that the whole thing being pink.

on another note, do you think the pink color does help awareness is the younger generation? ( they can have pink apaprtments and orms when they move out )

young girls see the pink and know what it stands for. the commercials are catchy. they show real woman of all ages. they know what a mamagram is.

hmmm..just starting wake my brain up with coffee.

i do know christina applegate being in the news has gotten 14 yr old lil'monkey and her friends discussing it.

the price hike...that ain't right. they even did that for the postage stamp.

christina applegates mom had very aggressive breast cancer. I think she died, but dont know for sure. Christina has been getting mamograms since the age of 30. She chose to do a double mastectomy since she tested positive for the BRACA1 gene (the one that tell you are at risk for a hormonal cancer) she said she will have the best looking boobs in the nursing home!

I too dont mind having a pink ribbon, and Susan G. foundation has done amazing things! Its just pink pink pink pink and pink! I saw a pink HP computer that donates 10% to the susan G foundation, but it was 10% higher than the same black/blue one. The Oreck vac has a pink version that is a bit higher in price, BUT you give up the FREE iron that comes with it if you chose that model. I asked why and they said that someone had to be sacrificed to make the donation. I said gee, isnt ORECK making the donation for me buying THIS model. the saleman was at least honest when he said NO, its YOU that gives up something to buy this model so WE can make the donation. I would rather have my black/red/silver vac, send in the 10% myself and enjoy MY tax break at the end of the year.

I like some of the Pink things but wont buy it just because it's for breast cancer. My mom is a three year survivor and I donate what I can but I wont buy just because. If I am going to buy "Pink" I go to a website that gives a % of money to offer free mammos to low income women and men.

see? that is what I am talking about, a web site that give FREE services to women in need. not a company that is looking for a better tax write off. good googely woo, have you seen the tax breaks these companies are getting to start with? The best they can do is get me to pay MORE for a product that they get the write off for? And I am supposed to feel guilty because my house isnt full of pink things? makes me crazy!

I got that off the old sanford and son show. the uncle would come over all wide eyed and outta control trying to talk Fred into something new, and would say "Good Googely Woo Fred! whatcho talking bout?" cant remember his name, but I have used that line for years.

now off to wash my pink dishes, with my pink sponge in my pink sink, with my pink dish washing liquid. At least they match my pink strainer to dry um.
