I hear you on this one B2Y!
I work nights and when I get home at 6:30 a.m., I take a half hour to unwind and then hit the hay so I can get up with some daylight left to work with. I used to have a phone next to my bed so if there was an emergency, I would get the message. People would call during the day even when they KNEW I was sleeping, "just to chat". I got an answering machine. They still called and in some cases, would YELL into the answering machine to try and wake me. I turned down the sound, so I couldn't hear them. I finally moved the phone out of the bedroom. The old man is under strict orders to NEVER wake me unless it's an emergency, as in someone is dead, dying or needs immediate assistance for an emergency. I've called some of the more obtuse people at 3:00 a.m. and awakened them to chat, and when they get mad, I ask them why...when they feel like it's ok to call me at MY 3:00 a.m.? No one calls me anymore...
