What's the best advice you've ever received? I had these randomly pop into my memory this morning, and they truly are words of wisdom:

"Liquor then beer, never fear; beer then liquor, never sicker." Learned that one in college.

Now these may seem silly, but they are really about exercises in futility:

"Never try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time, and annoys the pig."

"Never french inhale while standing on your head."

So what advice have you received that's helped you out in life?

"Choose your battles"

"Too much of ANYTHING is not good for you; everything in moderation".

... TOO much water
... TOO much vegetables
... TOO much religion
... TOO much calories
... TOO much restriction
... etc.

(Probably not great grammar, but you get the picture.)

"Life's short, don't sweat the small stuff".

"Don't count your chickens before they've hatched."

"If it sounds too good to be true it usually is."

"To be an effective leader you have to learn to take the emotion out of a situation." (My bosses favorite thing to say....after he had a meltdown. )

My great- aunt used to say her favorite Bible verse was, "And it came to pass...." She nursed several husbands through cancer and death and faced many hard times, but it gave her comfort to think, "It came to PASS, not to stay."

The best advice came from my grandmother. "Smile at your enemies, be yourself with your friends." "A smile is better revenge than a temper that will come back to bite you."

These are my favs....Most of them came from Mom and Dad.
