Default A while back I asked about Terry Fox...

I was curious if another individual had carried on Terry Fox's "legacy" for MS.

I actually found this!

Ride for MS!

Probably old news to some, but it was new news to me!

I don't think most of our American comrades know who Terry Fox is, Laura (without looking it up ). He's a hero here though, that's for sure.

This Richard guy has a good attitude . . . and plenty of good luck too, it seems.

Canadian or not, what he did for cancer research at the time surely would have been world news. If not, it's a shame and people SHOULD look up Terry's story.

I was just a wee pup when he passed away during his walk, but I'll never forget the television broadcasts. So very powerful.

Ahhh Cherie,

Terry Fox is as much a hero here in the USA as he is in Canada. There are Terry Fox runs all over the US. It doesn't matter where he came from, it's what he did to advance fundraising for cancer patients and how he did it.

Heroes are honored the world over, regardless of where they are from, and he is a hero to an uncountable number of cancer patients and their families worldwide.

Indeed. You know, I think in a way I was fortunate to be an impressionable age when he was doing his walk. I'll never forget as I say, watching the daily updates on the television with my parents (the 6 o'clock news at the dinner table with the TV in the kitchen, was a family event). He was an inspiration beyond his work for cancer. I'll never forget the man as long as I live, or the values he instilled in me without even knowing.

Ok . . . I guess we need to do a poll to settle this once and for all.

I have talked about Terry Fox on other forums, and with other American friends of mine, and YOU are actually the very first one who's known who he was.

No doubt there are many others that do too though . . . I just doubt he is as "famous" there as here. We still teach "Terry Fox 101" to every kid that starts school.

My son went to a private international school in Holland for 3 years and every year they had a Terry Fox run/fun walk to raise money so we know all about him!
