Default Has anyone had to...

...lean over a bathtub with a detachable shower head and shampoo their hair?

It is NOT FUN. I'm dizzy and nauseous (I think we need a face_puke icon!).

I had to do this, or go without washing the hair due to my bandaged up back from the cyst. I didn't want to go to the hospital tomorrow morning smelling like a skunk.

Can't do it, I just tip over now. I remember doing that when I was a teenager and didn't have a detachable shower head. Duh, it would have been faster and easier to take the dumb shower!

When I got my hand mangled in the clash of the Hobart, I went to the cheapy salon and got them to wash it for me every other day. They gave me a deal of $6 a week as I was casted for 5 weeks. I sent them donuts a few times, too.

I use to use the double sink for that in the kitchen, till I miscalculated the center piece of the double sink and left a nice size mark on the center of my forehead, not a nice way to start a day lol not sure if hitting my head hurt worse of the pain of being such a dork , probably the later, so how we doing miss dizzy lizzy, feeling better yet Laura

Yes I am, thanks Frank Much love.

I cooked and ate a veggie burger, and getting some food in the tummy helped.

My hair's drying and feels nice

I actually considered a trip to the salon, I'm not kidding! Then I thought, "What if the girl's rough and I smack my bandaged back on the sink or chair?".

wonder if its the meds that do it or what, I was showing Sean, my son, how the babies head wobbles around. when I stopped i almost melted out of the chair, I never use to get so light headed with sudden moves of my head, in the back of my head where there is more room I have been sort of keeping mental note each time it happens, pretty sure soon i will even remember to tell my neuro, hopefully it doesnt start happening on a reg basis, so you wont have to tell doc

It took me 20+ minutes, because I was hunched over the tub, going through a shampoo and conditioner rinse. So 20+ minutes bent forward over the side of the tub with the shower head, not a good position to be in, period LOL.

I hope that sensation goes away for you Frank.

Sweet. Since I have to continue to have the opening packed daily for the next week, I'll be doing the shower lean, because I did confirm today I have to keep the area dry.

I think I'll be washing my hair every other day for the week. LOL.

Laura,

I wondered if you'd have to keep changing the packing. My poor mom, rest her soul, had to change my dressing and pack my wound each day. Same thing, they want it to heal from the inside out.

As far as washing your hair every other day - go for it, that's the norm for me. Having such long hair I've been told I shouldn't wash it every single day anyhow (tough for me when I was a teenager). I just pin it up when I take my shower so it's out of the way.

My hair was nearly down to my waist during limbo period. Then I went in to First Choice Hair Cutters and had it hacked off to just above my shoulders

I loved my long hair, but seeing as how some days in limbo I had to have my boyfriend wash it for me, it only made sense to go short at the time. Less maintenance.

My chiropractor was like, "Oh good, I was going to tell you to cut it" (I have VERY thick hair). LOL

Laura ...

I had longer hair when I was first dx'd last year (Apr 07) .. and couldn't raise my arms in the shower to wash my head! so I had a dramatic hair cut - which I wasn't happy about ...

and now, when I shower (everyday - as long as I have shower-access) I wash my hair - but my arms tire out fast no matter what ...

when I color my hair, I do have to 'gear myself up' to kneel next to the tub - have everything close by to wash, rinse, condition and dry ... because then I'm sorta stuck kneeling ... so I have to prepare myself and stay calm without trying to do anything too fast - or I'll get dizzy leaning over or raising my head or just getting up ...

I'm not giving up - just pre-planning that I know I have to go slow to continue do the things I enjoy to do on my own yet ...

**gotta wash that grey right outta my hair**
