Default What to do about nausea?

Had a headache - nothing major - Saturday. Turned into a migraine yesterday. Not the worst pain, but one of those that won't stop. Worst part of it is the nausea - I never have that.

I have a dr appt today, so what can I do so I'm not barfing on the guy?

Any help appreciated.

Phenergan. It's great for nausea. It'll make you sleepy but that's okay...you'll feel much better after you wake up.

Also, until you get the prescription I've found that peppermint helps nausea immensely. Just suck on a piece of hard peppermint and it'll help.

Hope you feel better.

List of tummy remedies for my household....

Peppermint tea (straight up, no add-ins like cream or sugar)
Pepto Bismol
Tums

During a migraine, IF I have to go somewhere - sunglasses, sunglasses, sunglasses. Every little bit of light makes my nausea worse, so it helps a little to keep my eyes in the dark (so to speak).

Hope the doc can help and you feel better soon.

Hey Cath! Sorry your'e feeling so awful. My DD gets migraines and I feel so bad for anyone who has to suffer through them. I have a flippy tummy alot, so when mine gets icky, I take Tums or there is now a chewable Rolaid that tastes like a piece of candy.

Oh, I also will sip a lil cola just for the "burp" factor. Sometimes that helps. I have alot of acid and should be taking my Aciphex daily, but forget most of the time.

Not sure either of those would work in your situation, but just wanted to chime in and say I hope it passes soon. Good luck at the Dr. Oh, and when you get there, just tell the Recept that you are nauseated and do not wish to sit in the waiting room. They should put you in an exam room so you can lie back then.

Let us know how you make out at the Dr.

Oh, geez, Brain, sorry to hear that you're suffering.

I don't know much about migraine, but maybe some meclizine would help, its main function is to control nausea.

I am sorry to hear you are dealing with a migraine Brain - I know just how you feel. I get migraines also..... all are great suggestion you have gotten so far.

I know for myself nausea with a migraine is different from say a flu - the only think I can do is stay in my dark room with a cold wash cloth on my head and the back of my neck. There is nothing worst than a migraine that holds on for a few days!

to you and I sure hope the Doc can help you today. Peppermint candy do help for me when I can stand to keep it in my mouth. When I get a terrible migraine usually the gag reflux is bad and I can't stand to keep anything in my mouth to long.

Keep us posted!!

Peppermint just rocks for tummy upset! Good advice!

I take Gravol for the nausea if it hits me. Over the counter stuff here (don't know if it's available in the USA under the same name).

Heck, if I go on a long car ride, I have to 'pre-medicate' with Gravol, or I get car sick. I also have to ride up front in the passenger seat or I get carsick . My neuro said it's migraine related, sucks!

I hope you're feeling better soon BGB!

Oh that's not fun, Brain! My secret for nausea that worked for me during pregancy, episodes of vertigo and DH during his mirgraines... ginger. Ginger Ale works best, but I also like the ginger Altoids... not together though. Also nibbling on Gingerbread cookies helped.

I hope the nausea eases for you.

How'd the doctor appointment go? Did he give you something for the nausea?

Hope you're feeling better.
