Default Congressionally Directed Medical Research Granted MS $5 Million
Thanks to your help and activism, we are proud to announce that multiple sclerosis has been awarded a new $5 million research program within the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). This is a tremendous victory and is the first time that multiple sclerosis has ever received its own line item for funding under the CDMRP.

Yeah!!! We did it!!!

We all did it! This was the result of our trip to DC in May and lots and lots of follow up phone calls, emails, and letters! Including calls last week just before the vote!

This is the first time the MS Community has been granted our own line item in the Defense Budget for Research dollars!!!

Is this the one you had all of us contacting our legislators about? I'm so glad they attached it to the defense bill, otherwise it might not have happened!

Yes!!!

Research dollars have always been part of the Defense Budget. We just asked them to make MS a line item and not part of all the research monies granted . We had originally asked for $15m out of the over $125 they dole out for research, but will take the $5 they granted!!!!

I've been told that on other forums this information was posted but deleted and then edited. What confuses me is this information is from the NMSS website....and the NMSS was one the big pushes behind this. Sometimes I just don't understand what motivates getting information to the MS community.
