Default Apple Pie for Breakfast?

Sunday my Grandmother and I made an apple pie. Ok, some of you know my dear Grandmother is no longer with us but she is with me is spirit every day!!!

When I was growing up each fall her and I would make a "special" apple pie, why it was special I don't know and we made apple pie all year long but the one in the fall was "special".

So even though she is gone we still make an apple pie every year. Saturday I headed into town knowing the time was coming and bought everything I needed and Sunday was the day!!

I was all by myself for an hour so I stood there in the kitchen cutting apples and talking to Marian - she was the best friend a girl could have. I love and miss her dearly.

So this morning, guess what I had for breakfast???

Wow, memory blast! Once in a great while, my mom would give us a piece of hot apple pie with a wedge of sharp cheddar melted onto it. It made one heck of a great breakfast!

Thanks for the reminder, I had all but forgotten about that!

Breakfast every year the day after Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie for me. We always did that every since I was a kid. I just love any tradition that calls for pie for breakfast.

Glad that you and your gram still make your special fall apple pie.

Apple pie for breakfast is great!!!! Throw in some cheddar cheese and you hit 4 food groups at breakfast (fruit, grain, dairy, protein/meat).

It is good to hear that you have kept up on this tradition. What a great way to remember you Gram and do something "special" in memory of her. You're awesome!
