Default My Neighbor's A Crook!!

OK.....well maybe not the kind of crook you see breaking into someone's house but he's dishonest nontheless.

I ordered some steaks and chicken from Omaha Steaks. They had a really good deal for $39 so I thought I'd give it a try.

I got an email telling me when my package shipped and a link so that I could track it. I figured it would arrive either today or tomorrow so I never did check the tracking info.

Well, this morning my neighbor rang my doorbell and said that the UPS driver had left my package at his house by mistake.

I thanked him for letting me know and said that I would come over and get the package (he didn't bring it with him).

Now, this man is older than I am (he's probably in his 70's) and I've always been taught to respect my elders but this guy is just a piece of work. He actually suggested to me that I call the company and tell them I never received the package. Then they would send out another one and we could split everything since we would be getting double.

I couldn't believe he even had the nerve to suggest this.....and I told him that they could track the package and the UPS driver would tell them where he delivered it. Plus, I told him, it was dishonest. He started ranting about how these companies rip us off, the UPS driver should do his job right, they were stupid not to ask for a signature, blah, blah, blah.......

I finally told him that I wasn't going to call the company......yes, the driver should have noticed that the house number he was delivering to was different but hey, we all make mistakes. I think he just wanted to gripe. He kept on and on and I finally told him I was expecting a phone call and had to get back home. I told him that I'd give him a steak or a chicken breast for all of his trouble (I didn't know what else to do!!) and he did have the decency not to accept it.

My gosh....what is this world coming to?

LOL!!

I've had my doubts about this guy......I think he might have some medical problems that have gone unaddressed. His son comes over about once a week and cuts the grass, etc. but other than that I never see anyone over there.

I sort of feel sorry for him but now I'm finding it kind of hard.

We've got an actual thief living down the street from me.

This lady lives right next door to my aunt (across the street from me)

The thief just moved back into the neighborhood (she'd divorced her husband 2 1/2yrs ago, and I guess the reconciled recently)

When she lived in the neighborhood before, my aunt noticed landscaping items disappearing from her yard. Then she noticed some vandalism (things that were too heavy for one person to steal were getting smashed)

Then things started to disappear out of her garage. (my aunt has a bad habit of leaving the garage door open)

One Easter, my aunt hid Easter eggs in her backyard, and she left baskets on her patio table. Right at her own back door. Little while later, she heard talking in the backyard. Looked out back, the neighbor and her grandkids were hunting easter eggs. In my aunt's backyard. Carrying the baskets that my aunt had set out on her patio table while waiting for her daughters and the one grandchild she had at the time.

My aunt went out into the backyard and stared at this woman and she just stared back. No apology, no offer to return the baskets (my cousins had used those baskets every year since they were babies. Now the baskets are gone)

I've never seen anyone as brazen as crazy neighbor thief is. She's been moved back into her ex-new-husband's house for about 2 weeks. Someone was in my aunt's house the other night (no proof it was neighbor lady) but it's starting to cause my aunt to feel like she's being stalked. Whoever it was, they went thru the open garage door.

My aunt was at my house, in our front yard. Went went into my backyard for a minute to put away some chairs, came back up, and the nightlight in my aunt's garage that's a motion sensor light was on. You have to walk almost all the way into the garage to activate the light, and when she had her dog, a pug, the light couldnt pick up the dog, and she was larger than a cat, so we dont think the neighborhood stray cat set it off.

My dad is thinking of putting video cameras up in our garage and backyard and at our front door. I want an extra camera on our house aimed at my aunt's house. All hooked up to a computer hard drive. I just have to figure out if there's a system out there that we can afford.

Some neighbors can be irritating, cant they?

I know...me, too. I'm thinking he might have thought I saw it on his front porch.

Maybe he was just "testing" me to see if I might be a good partner in crime.

I was tempted to ask him "don't you see the police car parked in front of the house every night?"!!

I live in kind of a high rent neighborhood. I am not water front but one step from it. The people down the street with actual real big wads of money in the bank SCARE me! They are always figuring out a scheme and a scam to get things that dont belong to them, and that they dont deserve! it makes me so angry!

i grew up with nuffin. I mean hungry, and holes in my clothes poverty. I learned to be honest, even if it meant you went to bed hungry. To not steal, even if you saw a nice pie on a window ledge. You just dont take what doesnt belong to you.

Now we live in an age where people see shoplifting as a victimless crime. no face to it, just some high dollar insurance company to rip off. Then the rest of us have to pay higher prices because the store needs security and higher insurance premiums. I learned the basics in kindergarten. I guess some folks were absent that day.
