Default Gastric bypass gone bad

My SIL had a gastric bypass about two years ago. She has gone from about 350 to 115 and now looks like a walking skeleton. She has gone of her strict eating program and is now in the hospital in ICU.

Oh dear! That's no good.

I hope the ICU can get her stabilized and feeling better. Poor thing.

how scary!

My sister lost massive amounts of weight and it was so awful to see her go from healthy curvy and bouncy to a stick figure, who seemed frail, and lost.

I hope your sister feels better soon.

doydie, I am so sorry about your SIL. My sister had this done but has done great, it has been 3 years this November.

I pray your SIL pulls out of this.

Doydie, how awful for this to happen. Please keep us informed

Sending prayers for her recovery.

115 lbs isn't usually a worry, unless she is 6 ft tall . . . Is she malnurished or is something else amiss too?

Cat scan shows there is an abscess at the site where they take the very miniturized version of the colon after the bypass and connect it to the little pouch of a stomach that they make. This connection is called an anastomosis. Anyway, she has now checked herself out against medical advice 2 times in 5 days. She gets pain medicine, feels better then goes home. In one day she is deathly ill again and begging the doctor to readmit her.

I just don't undrstand it. And my side of the family is so close and my husbands side is like 'who cares!'
