Default I've Been Attacked...Arghhh!!

Some nice person (none of you), sent me a computer virus in an e-mail and screwed up everything..

I had to go back to the beginning and start, all, over. I lost all my Pictures, my e'mail addresses and anything else I had on my 'puter.

If had your e-mail address or if you would like me to pester you by e-mail, then please pm me your e-mail address...thanks..

I also have a question. I have DSL, but my computer is running slower than molassas. Should I be tweaking my DLS, somehow someway..Help!!!

Not a nice thing to do to an old babe on Halloween..

This slow-mo is maddening... See Ya.

They should have been able to save all your pics, etc. on disc.

I have to have my comp cleaned every year or so, because my kids always pick up some virus. My comp guy cleans the virus, saves everything to disc, then dumps the entire memory of the computer. I reload all the pics when I get it back.

... something to remember for the next time anyway.

I hate that! It is as much a violation as a burglary, and w/ever changing "mal" capabilities we are constantly vulnerable to new and nastier "carp."
Sorry you were hit, Sally.

If you are running a pre VISTA OS I don't remember exactly where these will be found, "System Tools," somewhere, if VISTA Ultimate it is under accessories, but you should, once in awhile, do a Disk Defragmentation and a Disk Cleanup.

You also need to keep your TEMP folder cleaned out, and fraNKLY, I empty my history and temporary internet folders at least daily also, partially to keep space freed up, but alsoto erase as much obvious record of where I've been as possible. Cleaning out the cookies folder is a help also but oh what a pain, sorting through to find the 1 in a zillion that are really of use to you.

I hate to learn from other's problems but this reminded me that it is time to renew my anti virus subscription
Write a HOTTNOTE to remind.

Hope something above helps.

We have lots of info and tips on our Computer & Technology Forum-
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum36.html

Did you have a antivirus, anti spyware running?

I use the internet security suites now, so i don't have 3 or so separate programs for safety. Depending on the company they cost approx. $29 - $ 49 for a year - I did some reviews on the top names as I did trials of them, my reviews are on the computer forum.
internet security suites covers-
Anti virus
anti spyware
firewall & wireless connections
email
parental controls
privacy
identity protection

there are programs that can recover your files -even if you formatted hard drive and reinstalled windows.
I just had to do it this year {before I got the internet security suite}
I used Arax Disk doctor and it works great - fairly easy too.
you can get a free trial to see how it works for you.
http://www.disk-doctor.com/
so many programs have free trials so you can evaluate if you like it or not, before you spend the money.

Sorry to learn this, Sal, I was hoping that you were on a cruise or something. Let's hope you'll quickly find a cure.
