Twink, a family pic is just perfect for your family and your dad. And get a print of it for him so it can be near his bedside and he can see all those he loves on a daily basis.

His attitude's dang good. That'll help. And knowing that HE knows he's had a good, long, and interesting life will help you in the long run to keep some perspective on things.

At least this way he has some control over the terms of how he goes out. It still isn't going to be easy. I have to say that some of the most beautiful memorial services I've been to have been planned by the person being memorialized.

The photo site is beautiful. Make and keep the memories now. Make a living legacy with him. :)

I'm seeing this very late but just wanted to add my well wishes and prayers.

I just saw the post....prayers for you and dad and all family members. (((((( Twink)))))))

Hi Twink, just saw this. I'm so sorry for the news. I'll be thinking of you and the family.

Adding my prayers to everyone else's Ro.

I too think that's a beautiful spot for the photo, and I like the idea of your dad having a copy with him until the end.

Twink,
I'm so sad to hear this news. I hope it's as non-hurting as possible for you all. But it does hurt.

braingonebad 10-31-2008 09:27 AM

Oh Twink, I'm so sorry.

Sorry I just saw this too or I would have offered hugs and prayers sooner. (been busy with my friend in the hospital since her car accident)

It's good that your dad knows what he wants to do and is okay about saying so, and that you are good about doing what he wants. You all are amazing.

How's your Dad doing today, Twink? Just thinking of him (and you) and hoping for the best in all of this.

Thanks, Kelly. Dad's doing really good.

When the doctor explained yesterday that there are new chemotherapies that do NOT make your hair fall out, Dad lifted his cap and said, "Good, I can't afford to lose any!"

Then he looked at the doctor's head and said, "Neither can you!" :p

Tuesday the doc will remove a large lymph node from Dad's armpit for biopsy. Dad says it feels like there's a mouse in there. ;)

Thursday we'll visit with the cancer specialist and find out info and options.

Treatments have come a long way in the last several years, Twink. I'm praying that your Dad can receive one of the least invasive ones available and do well on it.
