It actually doesnt really matter who's sitting in the big boy chair in the Oval Office, because it's Congress and the Senate that do a lot of the work. The president is just sort of a guide, or a manager. I dont expect things to change all that much.

At least the election is over and I wont have to watch all those political commercials any more...at least until 2012. The commercials were driving me a lot more batty than either of the candidates were.

Oh, and dont get me started on all the political phone calls and email spam we've been getting for the past few weeks. The phone calls from the Obama campaign were just as annoying as all the McCain spam I was getting in my inbox from the McCain campaign. (and trying to get the email spam to stop was a heck of a lot more difficult than getting the phone calls down to a dull roar.)
I'm sorry you're Erin. I think GW proved the highlighted statement above to be wrong. Things have already changed . We've proven to be a more enlightened and hopeful country. Don't hide under the bed, LOL, unless you can take your laptop with ya .

I will be praying for him and his family.

Like him or hate him, he is our president and we should support him.

I, personally, worry about his safety. I think he will be tested more than other presidents. I also fear for the safety of his family.

I'm sure this will be an unpopular post but I gotta say it . Being a Muslim does not make you a terrorist or a bad person. Fanatacism in any belief system is not a good thing. Oh, btw, I'm a Christian, just in case anyone questions my motives .

hate him??? ouch!! that seems pretty strong

Although I didnt vote for John McCain, I was touched by his speech
last night as I could see he was a man who truly loves this country.

Im personally glad this is over as it seemed to be going on forever.

Congratultions President Elect Obama!

I thought his speech was great, the right temperment and very presidential. He is right though. He may have led the campaign for change but it is the people of America that made the change happen.

And Obama is right in what he said last night...now that he is elected it cant be ok we elected you where is our change. He needs all of our help and we all have a responsibility to keep the momentum going and be the change we all want to see.

God Bless America!

Janie, My dear friend, of many years and a Democrat, felt as you did and voted for McCain. She was duped into believing the propaganda... I tried to explain, but it was too late and she now thinks we are all doomed..

Vic is right and I also think you will be pleasantly surprised......

You can't resign from the Mafia or being a Muslim; it is what it is.

I hope I am wrong and he will be the greatest President ever.

I have to admit, from my ignorant Canadian point of view, safety is a concern I have for him as well.

Why do you think we're a more enlightened country?

I voted against Obama because of his policies. I dont want my country to become a socialist country, and the biggest reason I voted against him was because of his position on abortion.

Yes, it's nice that we've finally elected a black president, but I wasnt voting for the color of his skin. I couldnt care less what shade he is. I voted against his ideas and policies.

I'm going to try to not post any more in this thread, because I dont want to de-evolve the thread into a political fight. I got kvetched at on another forum for posting my thoughts and opinions. (and got called a racist just because I didnt vote for Obama. Which amazed me, since I dont care what color his skin is)

I'm going to step away before I get any more political than I have. I hope Obama ends up being one of our best presidents. Maybe someone can change his mind on a few of the policies of his that I voted against.
