Thanks to my doctor and all of his incessant demands for further testing I went in for the LP yesterday which went ok i guess. Hurt like the dickens but it was over quickly.
My mother insisted on coming and spent the night last night waiting on me hand and foot, in her overbearing but very loving way. Don't get me wrong I was blessed to have her here. So now she is gone and the fiance is working on his term paper for school tonight and I am trying to figure out the finances so we can move next week and I am finding it harder and harder to concentrate on any given task and I am so flippin bored. I am not used to having time off with no little ones running around the house. what do you guys do to entertain yourself when you are bored and your brain won't shut off? |

Read a book, do a puzzle, talk on the phone. Make lists of things to do when I find the energy to do them.

Well it's tough after a spinal, since you need to rest horizontally for a period, but when I am in relapse or feeling bad, I log on my online game and kill excessive amounts of guys Something about casting pretty spells in a 3d world of wizards and knights in shining armor takes my mind off whatever real life crap is smacking me in the face
I am reading a good fantasy novel right now, "Mistshore". I'm incredibly sucked into this story. The character development is phenomenal

Hi Legzzalot,
Whilst I don't have MS (I have a chronic pain condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), I certainly understand how bored you can get and also have difficulties concentrating. I have had to take nearly 2 years out of school and am only just going back to school on a phased return (3 hours a day on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and also get really bored at home when I am not doing anything. Sometimes, even when I just don't feel up to it, I think it is better to get out of the house for a change of scenery and to keep me sane!! During the time I have had off school, I have developed a hobby. I love to do card-making. It can be a bit difficult at times trying to motivate myself to do things but I find it relaxing and it is nice knowing that I am making a card for someone else that is really personal. I know you probably wont get into a hobby straight away but if it just a suggestion for maybe if you have to have more time off work. The main thing that I don't when I am bored and don't feel up to cardmaking, is reading on the internet lol. I spend so many hours a day on the computer even if I don't feel up to it. I have difficulties concentrating so it is hard reading books and things. I also have pets and they bring me joy and keep me company. I hope you find something that helps you soon so that you aren't bored and i'm glad the LP went well and I hope the results come back OK - please keep us posted.

I started doing genealogy as my hobby and that took a lot of my free time to do research at historical societies, on the internet, interviewing relatives, sending out research requests, making a documented database of my findings to support my research. But I love detail work so it was fun.
I also started a salt water fish tank and that took time, research, and continuing upkeep. Plus watching the fish in my reef tank was always fascinating (and relaxing). The other suggestions are good ones. Dimpled One, I'm going to have to look up that book. I've been reading Weis & Hickman's Dragonlance series and also Naomi Novik's books.
