Oops! I forgot to mention that!

The doctor found 2 polyps, and I was rather surprised that they had grown in such a short time. One was just near where the tumour was before they removed a big chunk of my bowel last year.

Anyway, I'm not concerned about the polyps as the surgeon said they looked benign, and my local doctor will get a copy of the pathology report when it comes through.

Thank you for asking.

I almost missed this, with all the hoopla of the holiday. I am so relieved to hear that your DH came through the operation OK and is now healing. Thank Heavens.

I am still concerned for you my Dear Anne, because of the new polups. I'm glad they seem benign and I hope they stay that way. My continued prayers for your health and well being and for your DH's full recovery.

Love, sally

What a relief your DH made it through the surgery okay! I know you were worried b/c of his father (or was it brother...sorry).

Yes, I think you are wise to have him go to the therapy, rather than returning home. Sorry he has been in so much pain.

I am so impressed by your MS Society! Glad they are looking after you two!

Hugs to you both.

And glad your polyps are benign. Whew!!!

Heart Thank you everyone!

Thank you everyone for all your kind words, and your thoughts and prayers during this hard time for DH and myself.

DH was discharged from hospital yesterday, although I really would rather that he stayed a few days longer.

I'm not sure that he was quite ready to come home because he's still very weak, pale and dizzy. He had all sorts of complications and even lost over half his total blood supply after the operation.... so much so that he ended up having to have 3 seperate blood transfusions.

Even knowing all of this, his surgeon said he was doing well enough not to need any rehabiltation physio, so he sent DH home.

Who am I to argue, I'm just a mere wife?

I must admit that I'm already feeling worn out, and he's only been home a little over 24 hours. We do have a house keeper, a carer for both our hygeine needs (like showering etc) and all sorts of other help that the MS Society provided for us, but I have a feeling I'm going to be exhausted over the next few weeks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to have my DH home with me where he belongs, but the end of the week probably would have been better for both us us.

It was his dad Twink. DH's father had a major stroke under the anesthetic and died having a similar operation a few years back, so we were both on tenderhooks hoping that DH would not suffer the same fate, especially seeing he's already had one mini stroke. Thank goodness that didn't happen.

Thank you again everyone. Your support means a lot to me.

I'm glad that your husband is on the mend and that you are okay as well. See if you can find and hour in the mroning and again in the afternoon to recharge with a nap or a book/magazine even when you aren't tired. I'm finding I'm better off if I relax before I need it - that way I'm good with an hour instead of needing three hours to come round.

Anne I'm glad DH is home and I hope that you get lots of help from the caregivers who are coming in and from your family. Even with help it's hard not to overdo it.....and the emotional stress of taking care of a loved one can wear you out quicker than anything. So take it easy and don't forget to take care of yourself, too. Wish I lived closer so I could help you out. But I will be remembering you and DH in my prayers for a quick and uneventful recovery!

Anne,
Glad to hear DH is home...just take care of yourself, please...stress alone will wear you out. And we don't need a stressed Koala!!
