Default Ciao! I miss my friends!

The good news is that we finally moved into our house last week but now I have to unpack it all! No easy feat in a house with no closets or storage! Wardrobes and those big industrial metal shelves from Costco are my new best friends!

The reason I miss my friends is that I've gone from carpy connection to no connection. My sources tell me that I should have telephone and internet connectivity in approximately 2 months, so I find myself running to the only connection I can get to (25 km away...)

Having a wonderful time and the dogs are loving being back with us again. Unfortunately, there is a large stray and feral dog population which makes walking the dogs a challenge. I've been stalked by a large german shepherd for 3 out of the last 4 days whenever I try to walk the dogs anywhere. I met a neighbor who recommended I stock up on pepper spray and a collapsible baton....

Even still, I'm loving it and my Italian is improving slowly. I'm finding ways to practice as much as I can. Not hard since my landlord and neighbors speak no English whatsoever - imagine trying to learn how to use all of the appliances, heating systems, alarm system...everything in another language. Both the LL and I have gotten frustrated, but eventually, we figure it out and we end up laughing. I even managed to chat with a biker the other day who was asking me about my dogs. I was so proud. This is definitely a great brain exercise - I would recommend learning a new language to anyone who is interested in stretching their neurons

Hope to be back on regularly sooner rather than later...I miss hanging out here and seeing what everyone's up to. Funny how, I spent much more time on here when I had a job Now that noone's paying me to hang out here, I seem to have much less time!

Sheesh, only gone a few weeks and already she's speaking in kilometers!

Glad your Italian is coming right along. So, can your dogs speak to Italian dogs yet?

Hope you get online soon -- we miss you back!

Aw, our wayward Gretata is home! I've been missing your quick wit, missy! How cool that you've finally landed, it had to be uber frustrating all this time.

Where are the pics?

Hi Greta!

I'm glad you're starting to get settled and that the doggies are happy to be there with you.

It sounds wonderful, and I hope you and your DH will enjoy your time there. How are the Italian restaurants? Have you found any special ones hidden from the tourists?

I hope you can post pics soon!

OH GRETABULOUS!! Welcome back!

I can only imagine how frustrating it's been for you, but I'm glad you, DH, and the pups are all managing ok.

Wow, that's kind of sucky about the feral/stray dog population. What a shame. I see additional dogs in your future <picture me rubbing a crystal ball!>

If I could only have some immersion in Spanish I'd be really happy. I know what you mean about another language. And I have heard that once you learn one, that another one isn't so difficult. So keep those dendrites and synapses busy there girlie!

Miss ya, my friend. Really, really miss ya. And give one to DH and to the remaining band members.

That's so true. Once I was fluent in Hick, I really did well with Hillbilly.
