Default Sooooo How Was It?

The Thanksgiving Feast, that is.. And, of course, your Family Gathering.......

I just had a barbecue chicken Pizza (schwans) It was delicious. No Turkey and stuffin this year. I think DD will bring Spare Ribs and Cornbread tomorrow?

I'm actually in no hurry since I am a little under the weather..(translation.. feel shitty)

So, did the baked, deep fried or whatever Turkey turn out yummy? Before and after pictures please.

I was a bit nostalgic today, when I thought back to all the Family Feasts, My Grandmom, Mom or I used to prepare.

My Cousin prepared a traditional feast and of course I was welcome there, but didn't feel up to it. I think she is bringing me a full plate for the microwave Saturday. Bless her heart.

Anyway, today is like any other day to me and always a day to give thanks.

Well that sure sucks, Frank.. Just in time for Christmas..Bah!!

My SSon and Fiance got back from Kuwait and Bagdad this summer and are on their way, on New Years, to Vegas to get married.

I will say some extra prayers for your DS's safe return and hope that things settle down soon, over there.

Glad you TG was nice but sorry for your news..

We had a nice time at DH's nephew's house. It was our first time there, he just moved in a few months ago.

He did pretty good planning a whole dinner (single, divorced man). It was about two hours late to eat but there were lots of snacks to carry us through. His turkey, ham, stuffing, potatoes and gravy were delicious. My pies and cheesecake turned out well and they kept all the leftovers (yay!)

It was great seeing everyone, about 30 people turned out. I mentioned we could have Christmas at our house and in the same sentence said that DH will help me clean the house. He just nodded.

Frank, sorry to hear about your son going to Kuwait, but thank God it isn't Iraq or Afghanistan. I hope he'll be safe. I'll remember him in my prayers.

Day 2 IVSM behind me. One more infusion to go! Today was red moon face day!

PODH did the turkey in the turkey fryer, turned out good. I made my favorite cranberry jello salad, mashed potatoes with carrots, and fresh rolls. And we had Chocolate Silk pie for dessert.

We will have leftovers for a week!

Frank and Deb. Keep your chin up.

I hope everyone is doing good!

Sally...

for Frank and Deb.

dinner was yummy...

my cheesy scalloped potatoes came out *great*

I used cheese made from our goat's milk in the white sauce, and potatoes from our garden.

the cornbread stuffing was fabulous, and the roasted chicken was tender and juicy.

we had Traveler's Blackberry Wine made here in Belize, and bread pudding for dessert.

Wonderful time!!!! My youngest daughter and my sisters doughter in law have done a fantastic job of taking over. they realize that my genration is getting older and their generation needs to take over. We enjoy being in the kitchen with them and occasionally doing something but they do most of it. And their husbands are usually by their sides. My oldest daughter has never been 'housewifey'. Two years ago her little one was a newborn. Last year her excuse was she was still nursing. So this year I told her she had to be in there. There were prlenty of adults to watch her two kids ages 7 and 2. She said that she never realized that the wonderful turkey she loves to eat was so difficult to cut and prepare. My youngest actually said loater tonight that for Christmas she wants it back to her and my sister's daughter in law. She said that the kitchen was just to crowded. To many cooks! My ssiter son (husband of this wonderful daughter in law) makes the best ham! And my daughter makes the best turkey. So between the two of them it was good.

Our son in law just got back from his second tour of duty in Iraq last week so we were truly blessed this year. Plus my sisiter is doing well with her chemotherapy from her breast cancer and my uterine cancer was taken care of with a hysterectomy. And we have two wonderful, beautiful grandchildren!

No Thanksgiving dinner (yet), since I have been doing critical computer repairs at the office since 9pm yesterday (when we were hit by a worm or virus which deleted everything).

The GREAT NEWS is that my better half will be on here way back from the in-laws with all kinds of goodies!

So, in advance of their arrival I have to say...YUUUMMMM !!!!
