so someone else who has to have her happy pills to get in those darn things! (they even let my hubby stay and rub my leg)

They have never told me not to wear deodorant, makeup, hair products..etc.

Now about that olive oil.. it's great for my skin and hair. I also use Burts Bees apricot baby oil, mainly for the nice scent.

I have never gotten any directions except I get asked if I have any Jewelry on. I seldom wear any underwire (or anthing for that matter). Now a MRI vetern, I never wear any sort of metal. When I entered being pushed in a manual chair,The MRI tech. jumped to attention, not letting chair get close to tube, put me on at very end of "platform - bed" as far as possible from tube. I don't know if she feared the magnets would suck my chair into tube (now that I'd like to see), or if chair would hurt machine. No problems except leg kept spazzing after 1 1/2 hours and ruining pictures. She kept yelling "stay still." I'd yell back "I can't control it". She finally got it and sent me home.

tkrik = Olive Oyl, hehehe!

Twink = Popeye to the rescue!

When we first got a MRI machine in a portable/traveling trailer, the techs did a fascinating demonstration for me and others who worked at the hospital. They poked a broom with a metal handle in the tube and let me hang on to it -- you couldn't hardly pull the thing out b/c of the magnets! It practically levitated the broom right in the center of the tube.

They mentioned repairmen who left their tool boxes in the vicinity and all heck broke loose when they turned the machine on!

When they did some sort of recall on an inhouse CT machine, I got a bunch of the magnets. They were just little, about the size of large postage stamps. But STRONG!!! You couldn't pick one off a metal surface -- you had to slide it to the edge. You could actually put one beneath your open palm and get another to dance above it over your hand w/o touching it!

I passed a bunch out to my Cub Scouts with interesting results. They reported about kids at school who made "earrings" out of them and couldn't get them to let go!

My own kids ruined them by holding a stack of them away from another stack and letting them SNAP! I wish I still had a couple -- they were great fun!

I have had places make me put scrubs on, one hospital had me change into a gown, but the current hospital (large university medical center) just makes me take my jewelry off and aren't at all concerned with my bra (underwire and metal hooks and all). This is the first place that I haven't had to change any of my clothes at all.

Good idea about the olive oil... A cheap and effective skin softener! BTW, the only thing I have to do is remove anything with metal before I get an MRI.

I love my olive oil. It is the best and cheapest "anti-aging" moisturizer I have found. Using it on the hair makes the hair shiny, soft, and gives it volume. Of note, when using on hair use it before you shampoo. I put it on and sit in the sun (heat) for about 10 minutes and then shampoo it out. I love it.

I have always had to put a gown on and take the bra off. But I have never had to take my jeans off.

I don't quite know why they say clean, dry hair. Does that mean if your hair is dirty the magnets will pull at it and your hair will be stuck. LOL I could just picture the techs trying to detangle my mass from the machine. LOL. j/k. On the flip side, my hair has more static when it is clean and dry. YIKES!!! lol.

I think they want clean hair because they don't want people with dirty hair in their machines. Imagine dirty greasy hair with that halo thing they use for brain MRI's.
