Default Excitement In The Neighborhood!

I was folding clothes in my bedroom this afternoon when I heard what sounded like an explosion. I looked out the window, didn't see anything strange and there were no crowds forming in the street so I kept on with my chores.

Later on, when I went to get the mail, I noticed that the house two doors down from me (in the cul de sac) had a car sticking out of the front! Apparently the homeowner (or someone) who was backed into the driveway put the car in reverse instead of drive and plowed through the house! Bricks and siding were all over the place.

They were out in the yard and walked over when they saw me at the mailbox. The man asked if the policeman was home (they saw Matt's car parked in front of the house) but I had to tell him he wasn't. He really wasn't home but I don't think he could have done anything for him even if he was. I'm pretty sure this is an insurance issue.

What a mess!

Wow..... that's just crazy. Wouldn't it be cheaper, if you wanted to put an extension on or sliding glass doors, to hire a contractor? Did you ask them if that's why they did it?

Man, I wouldn't want to be them. And if I were the one that had done that, I'd feel really stupid and wouldn't want to admit it.

Thank goodness no one was hurt!

but..... Kell? how on earth does someone get up enough *speed* to damage a house, with a car, just in the driveway?

I mean, maybe if it was a mobile home, or a shanty, but BRICKS ??

I hope somebody took pictures... and glad nobody was hurt.

That's rather unfortunate, especially at this time of the year. Stress levels get high, and people have too much on the mind and accidents like this happen.

Glad to hear that no one was hurt.

Oh my.. I've seen this same thing happen, in the news, more often than you would think....especially in culdisacs???

Usually it's a stranger, losing control and running into said house. People in the houses have been injured, even killed.

I'm glad noone was hurt.

I know....I have no idea how it happened...but I heard it!! Sounded like something exploded! All I can think of is that their driveway is steep, and they were sitting at the top (they were backed in). All you could see was the front end of the car sticking out of the house. It looked like someone had driven through it from the back and only made it part of the way out.... I just figured they put it in reverse instead of drive and then gunned it. I cannot imagine how the driver must have felt immediately following this!

I bet they felt pretty stupid.

A neighbor of mine had her garage door smashed in a few months ago. She didnt do it, her extremely violent boyfriend did. Another neighbor saw the truck pull into her driveway, gun the engine (tires started to smoke) and smashed in the garage door. Scary!!
