Yep . . . I guess circumcision wouldn't be the problem if you are using condoms.

There are apparently two ways a condom can cause yeast infections:

"condoms can promote yeast infections in two different ways. first, a lot of condoms come packaged with a lubricant that contains nonoxynol-9, a spermicide that may kill the HIV virus. a friend of mine has been insisting for years that she gets a yeast infection every time she comes in contact with the stuff. sure enough, several recent studies have shown that nonoxynol-9 is linked to yeast infections. if you suspect this is your problem, try using a condom that doesn't have a spermicidal lubricant, and use a different spermicide or additional barrier protection. condoms can also cause yeast infections if you are allergic to latex, although this is less common. if this is the case, don't give up hope on practicing safer sex. you may want to try some of the newer plastic (polyurethane) condoms...."

However . . . I've never known condoms to cause a UTI though.

If you are noticing a pattern of UTI's after sex though, be sure to empty your bladder before and after, and for him to be careful to not get too close to the other less sterile place "down under" before having intercourse.

Perhaps it isn't a UTI at all though . . . it's yeast only. I recall you thinking you had a UTI before and your aunt questioning whether it was actually yeast, and it was. Maybe you are unnecessarily treating the UTI, then thinking the antibiotic is causing the yeast . . . when in fact it is just yeast all along.

She's got experience with autoimmune diseases too so I feel much much better (also need the dermatology check for being on Tysabri -- she knew what the drug was). Anyhow, peace of mind is worth something--not having to worry and not having to argue. If I were you I would demand to have the regular doctor all the time. Tell them that with your MS (a serious chronic disease) you would feel more comfortable being able to see the regular doctor every single time you call for an appointment. Push it. You deserve and need it.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

It's just that one particular PA that I hate, because she so massively screwed up when informing me of my MRI report. I dont trust her at all because of that, and because she totally blew off the numb thigh and leg that was probably my first true sign of MS as a sprain. I remember after she screwed up with the MRI, the first time I saw her after that, she asked how I was. I said "fine, except for having MS".

My favorite doctor moved to a new state, so my doctor's office hired another PA, and I've met that PA a couple of times, so they do have one PA that I trust, I just cant stand the other PA that's a moron.

I actually feel a little better this morning. I've had insomnia for about a month or more, and last night, I kept falling asleep while trying to crochet a hat. So, I took that as a sign that maybe I should make the attempt to fall asleep before 5am. I slept about 8 1/2 hours. (finally!!) I feel like there was actual sleep accomplished last night. I kind of want to go back to bed, but I think I'm staying up for the rest of the day so that I'll hopefully be tired enough to go to bed at a normal hour tonight.

I think the antibiotics have finally kicked in for me, because I dont feel as bad as I have for the past few days...and I dont feel the constant need to use the potty right now. Yay for antibiotics!

I have to go clean up my room so my mother's cleaning lady doesnt trip over something while vacuuming.

I think this was a UTI first...I had a stomach ache similar to the one I had about a year ago that I went to the ER for. (and got kvetched at by someone on another forum because "ER's are for EMERGENCIES" and apparently in her mind, an impending kidney, or serious bladder infection wasnt enough of an emergency to go to an ER for...which is what I was told by ER staff I was close to getting if I hadnt gone in when I did. That UTI really sucked...it wanted to stay with me. I dont screw around with them now)

That stomach ache was nowhere near as bad as the one I had the time I went to the ER, but felt so familiar to me that I knew I had to get it dealt with quickly. I was running a low fever the other day when I called the PA and got her to reluctantly give me the abx's.

I actually felt when the antibiotics finally kicked in over the weekend. That feeling of impending doom that I get when I have a UTI suddenly felt better, and my body felt better. It's kind of cool to be able to start to feel better just because the antibiotics started to work. It always impresses me to actually be able to feel things improve.

Hopefully those abx's arent the reason my fingertips went numb this afternoon.. (it is 3 below outside right now, so it could just be frostbite...)

My basement is freezing! I cant wait till our new gas fireplace is installed down here next month...if I dont freeze to death before then. (discovered turning on 3 of my computers in my room and closing the door is a great way to stay warm)
