Default I just saw the neatest thing

We're having a bad storm tonight. Lots of snow, a bunch of ice rain, I think we even had hail, and it's thunder-snowing too.

So, a little while ago, I went up to check my laundry and then stepped out onto the glass enclosed deck that faces our backyard. (it's heated)

I was checking out the snow, and was about to come back downstairs, when I saw a deer trotting thru the yard...and then a slightly smaller deer right behind it.

They were out there eating the neighbor's plant life. I watched for a few minutes and then the smaller one walked thru my backyard, and into the next door's yard (we dont have fences) and started to snack on the bird feed in the neighbor's bird feeders.

The other one came over and they both went to town on the bird feed for about twenty minutes. The older one either got full or bored, or was getting cold, and wandered over into the treeline that runs past the creek. (the association pulled up most the treeline a few months ago, it was over grown.)

I tried really hard to get pictures, but my dad's digital camera batteries were dead, and my camera was downstairs. I wanted to get video. (my video camera's batteries are dead too)

I finally couldnt take the pain in my back from standing there too long, so I came downstairs. I grabbed my camera, and looked out the back door, tried to take pictures, but the light wasnt good enough for it. I got a shadowy looking picture, but I dont think it's that usable.

It was so cool tho, because the snow was coming down, and the deer were just standing there, stealing bird feed from my neighbors. (I dont mind deer, I do mind a million birds eating the feed and then crapping all over the house, my car and in my hair in the summer)

It was just neat to watch. I think next time we have a storm like this, I'll have to look out the windows on the deck to see if anything else is running around back there.

Oh, and there were like half a dozen bunny rabbits running thru the trees around the deer. Looked like they were all getting a midnight snack.

In your hair? Yikes! Those must be specially trained bomber pigeons like we have here.

I hope you can get some pictures next time....wildlife is so beautiful to watch. As for the birds....we have to remember that they are in their natural habitat. It's us that's intruding into their world.

We're going to have another snow storm later this weekend. (argh!!!) so if I'm up and wandering around again during that storm, I'm going to carry my camera around with me.

I'm charging up my video camera today. It has night vision on it, so it might help me to get better pictures.

It was just cool to watch those deer just standing there, snacking away.

Oh, it was really great to read what you observed. I felt I was there. The deers and all the commotion in your backyard. How cool was that? Yeah, I know...it was probably cold out there but you were in a warm and safe place. Good to observe everything. Thanks for sharing!
