Default I tried but just couldn't do it

I got a position at a Penny's near-by being a greeter for the Holiday season. Yesterday was my first day on the job. Yes, it was basically a Glorified Wally World greeter being pain minimum wage.

I started at 1:00 and my first break was at 4:00. I stood in a 10 foot area greeting customers as they came through the center of the store. Saying hello, giving directions to the bathrooms or to the main mall, and helping people find items in the store when they needed it. Come 4:00 I had a hard time walking to the time clock without falling down. I knew my legs would collapes before I hit my car so I sat in the lounge for 5 mins before venturing out to my car to find something to eat. I was suppose to stay till 10.

I called David and he could tell by my voice it was bad. He proceeded to tell me to come home. I said I would see how I felt after my break and I called my mom to check on dad who is still not well and she also could tell I was not doing well.

After sitting for 35 minutes in my car I got out to go back in to finish my shift for I like to finish what I start but I couldn't even make it across the parking lot when my right leg went out from under me. After catching myself I turned around and went back to my car called the manager and said "I am sorry but this job is not for me but thank you."

I made it home by 6:30 after 25 minutes of sitting in my car crying out of self pitty. I was in bed by 7:30 but really didn't get much sleep.

I am so upset with myself for giving up but I knew there was no way I was going to be able to stand basically in one small area for 8 hour for the next 6 days. 3 hours pretty much did me in...... (those are for you AMN )

thank you for letting me vent.

I'm proud of you for trying. I'm not just blowin' smoke up yer panties, I mean that.

It's tough to look so normal and not feel so normal. Sometimes I think it would be way easier if we looked as wasted as our bodies act. At least then, it'd make sense when we can't do what we used to.

Aww, Char, I'm so sorry it didn't work out for you. But you tried! That's all anyone can ask of you. I know that I would not be able to stand for that long. You did better than I would have done! But.....you did the right thing. It wouldn't have been smart to push yourself and your body was telling you that it'd had enough.

Be proud of yourself for giving it your best shot. We love you!

You got out there and gave it your best effort. I'm proud of you for doing it. I'm glad you didn't push yourself too far with this greeter job, and I hope you're feeling better today.

Char, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. However, I give you a lot of credit for giving it a try. You took the opportunity and did the best that you could.

Hang in there! Saying some prayers for you.

Char, please try to think of it this way, you took one for the team. For all of us who cannot work, but keep thinking why not? Why can't I work? Why not give it a shot? Well, YOU did!

I'm sorry if you're still feeling bad about having to leave early, but dangit, it took guts to go at all. Thank you for that.
