Where the deer were eating from the bird feeder is the back end of our yards (mine and the neighbors) Our yard is really over to the left from there. I was on the glassed-in deck of our house when I was getting that video and looking over into the neighbors yard.
Behind the evergreen tree at the end of the neighbor's yard, there's a ditch (culvert? creek?) that is open to above ground (behind my yard the creek is buried) and the deer have been seen walking down into the creek to drink.
That creek only just got cleaned out a few months ago. The builder of our houses had ignored it and were apparently dumping building materials in it while they were building our houses...so the whole thing was full of junk, was blocked up and backed up and full of black sludge.
I'm not sure the deer should be drinking out of it yet. The week they finished cleaning out that creek, it snowed and started to freeze over. It's a good thing that across the street from my house, there's actually a pond...it's in my aunt's backyard (and the backyards of about 5 or 6 other houses)
My aunt just called me a bit ago, and asked what all the footprints in the snow on her patio and yard were. (she's been on vacation for a week) I told her it was the herd of deer. She's all excited now. She wants to see them come into her yard for a drink from the pond now.
I still have to email her the video of the deer to her email addy at work.
At least the SID (Sanitation Improvement District) finally cleaned out the creek behind my house. It used to be ugly, all overgrown and full of weeds and trash. Couldnt even see through the trees back there then. We didnt even know the creek was there, or how deep it was (was a 20 foot drop before you hit the water on the far end before they graded it) Now we can see the wildlife.
