I'll keep you both in my prayers... I'd be very scared too.

I am sorry that the doctor was such a jerk. I understand why you are afraid. I will also keep you and your dh in my prayers.

You're both in my thoughts and prayers.

What a jerk doctor.

Maryanne,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time...my neighbor had bladder cancer...had his bladder removed and is still with us 10 yrs later...
as the others have said, it's good that you got in early...hold on to him tight...things like this always strip away all that is unimportant in our lives and show us what IS important...our loved ones. Take care, and know that you all are not alone

smoking has been linked to bladder cancer.

you are right. once you hear those words you can't think of anything else no matter how positive you try to be.
that being said, please do your best to hang in there.
i'm glad your bil is coming for a visit.
No, he's never smoked. Secondhand from his dad, though. He doesn't drink alcohol either, if that counts.

Thank you for your kind words. We leave for the tests in about an hour. We're both scared, but we're ready to get things rolling and to find out what this is.

I love you guys. You are my tether to sanity when I go a little crazy sometimes.

I just wanted to tell you to remain positive, however hard that may be, as my Dear Father was DX'd at age 60 w/Bladder CA and lived many, many yrs after that. He had the ca removed and never ended up having any other tx, as the Specialist said most bladder ca's are flat and easily removed, w/a high rate of success.

I also remember my Gr Aunt having sx's like your DH and hers turned out to be a kidney stone. So, just know that prayers are going up for both your DH and you. Please let us know how things are going, OK? take care and sending hugs.
Thanks for sharing that, DM. It gives me hope, and I'll tell my husband what you said.

Default Now, I'm Terrified

Bad news. My husband went in today for a CT scan and cystoscopy. They found a tumor in his right kidney that they are 99% sure is cancer. Wednesday, he is scheduled to have surgery to remove the kidney.

Monday, he has to go in for a CT scan of his chest and a bone scan to make sure the cancer hasn't spread.

This is another thing that has hit us out of left field. He has had lower back pain for years, but was told it was the usual back pain. The urologist said that he has probably had this tumor for at least two years, based on its size.

They told us that as long as it hasn't spread, that he has an 80% recovery rate. So, that's some good news.

I will keep you all posted. Please keep my dear husband in your thoughts.

Maryann, i am sorry for the lousy news, but keeping positive is a very important part of life right now, cancer treatments have come a long way down their road. and positive attitudes have also an influenced on healing, I and my wife Deb shall pray for you and DH and for a speedy re-coop. I am sorry for the bad news Maryann, keep a stiff upper lip and I have faith he will be fine.
