I've seen that tip before. Tried it once, and it was messy. Could just be me, LOL

I'll stick with my Y shaped peeler with the potatoes sitting in the sink being run under lukewarm water.

EDIT: or better yet - make my hubby do it

Well, she sure made it look easy, didn't she?

But you've got the right idea: let hubby do it!

Is it just me? But in the time it takes to boil the water, find the knife, put knife back find sharper knife, score potato then wait 15 minutes to boil it, then put it on ice (which requires finding another pan or bowl), cool it off enough to peel.....I could have peeled a whole bag!

Ok maybe it's just me. Well I guess it would be easier to call finlady and see if I can borrow her hus....errr potato peeler. LOL I hear she's got a really cool one. it squashes bugs opens jars and reaches stuff on the top shelf!

Hey did you guys ever try the potato peeler glove? I swear it was invented I saw it on TV late one night. seemed like a good idea.

Legzz, I saw the glove peeler on TV too. Someone mentioned it in a forum here and said it wasn't worth the money. *sigh

Hey, when you get done with finlady's potato peeler, send him over to my place, will ya?

I have to admit, most things I see on tv late at night aren't worth the money.

I also find it interesting that the cheese slicer and the potato peeler and the corkscrew that I use were all my grandmother's and therefor probably older than me.

It's funny because prior to stealing these things from my mom's attic I went through at least 5 of each item. It's true what they say...they don't make anything like they used to.

I've never done it that way but it's worth a try! Especially with my numb hand.....peeling with a paring knife is risky!

I tried the new Ore-Ida frozen mashed potatoes (Steam 'n Mash) and they are really good. Very easy....just steam in the microwave.....then mash. Tastes just like you peeled and boiled the potatoes yourself!

I bought the gloves for a friend, and she HATED them. Said they did a lousy job, and made a mess.

As for Mary Ann, neat trick, but A LOT more messy than just peeling the darn potato. I mean it take a min to peel a lil stack of potatoes, and this way you have to score them all, boil them all, and then have icy water, and have to yank on them anyway. its a neat idea, but way to many steps, and too time consuming for me.

she is cute still though, isnt she? I always loved her. Working her fanny off on the island, while Ginger was waggling her butt to get out of chores.

Is THAT how you get out of chores?? Sheesh! You know I tried protesting, I tried going on strike, I tried BWC'ing. Tonight I will whip out my daisy dukes and see if i can wag my tushy out of doing the dishes!

A minute to peel a sack of potatoes?????? It would take me hours to peel them! With my numbness and clumsiness I'd be lucky to still have 10 fingers when I got through!
