The lady who cleans our house is the owner of the cleaning company, and even she doesnt do the greatest job.

I'm noticing scratches on the walls. Not sure from what.

She always does a fairly decent job on the upstairs, but for the past few months, I've noticed that she really slacks off on the basement (where I live)

I had to vaccuum my room after she left the other day. It was pretty obvious that she didnt do it. (dirt that had been on the floor for about a week was still in the middle of the room)

I dont understand why she will make my mom's bed totally perfectly, tucking the sheets in and getting the pillows just perfect, but in my room, she just flips the blankets back up and doesnt pull the sheets up if they're crumpled under the blankets. (I dont really complain about that, because I'll just mess it up again that night, and it doesnt get made again after that) I just notice that the old cleaning service that we had (Merry Maids) were a lot more thorough in cleaning. (they'd wipe down the doors to every room and dust the baseboards...something that I havent seen done lately in any room other than the bathrooms)

Oh well, I'm not the one who pays her. The only thing I really want to complain about are the ginormous scratches she put on my LCD tv in my room last week. I cover the tv so she'll remember not to touch the tv. I guess I need to put a big sign on the tv that says "do not touch" instead. She moved the cover to dust the tv. (my old lcd screen that blew up before it was even a year old had huge scratches on it from the cleaning service pressing a towel into it to scrub it. So I asked her not to touch the tv or any of the computer monitors. I can dust my own tv now...but she keeps doing it)

How much do they charge you, not to do your cleaning?

Well, Halida (the girl who cleaned by herself the first time) came back and redid what wasn't done last week. She did a perfect job and apologized profusely for the other girls lack of service. As it turns out Halida did not clean the areas that I had a problem with (and I knew this). The other girl cleaned those areas. Halida said that she would be coming alone next time as she didn't like having to come back and redo what someone else should have done correctly the first time.

I was satisfied with her cleaning today and will give it another shot next week to see if she will do a good job....now that she knows I'm picky and checking up behind them!!

I think they charge different amounts for different houses depending on what you want and the size of your house, Sally. My boys keep their own rooms clean so those two bedrooms are not included in my estimate. Matt keeps his guns in his room, too, and he didn't want them poking around in there. They're charging me $90 every other Friday to clean everything but those two rooms. But I have a formal dining room, a living room, a sunroom, 2 full baths, my bedroom (which is the master bedroom) and the kitchen and breakfast room. They also consider the foyer area a "room"...not sure why. All of these rooms have vaulted ceilings, too, so they have to use a pole to dust up in the corners. I'm really particular about the baseboards being kept clean and underneath the furniture (like the china cabinet, DVD cabinet, etc.) being kept dust-free.

I'd recommend them even though I had to call them back this last time. I don't expect perfection but I do expect to get my $90 worth each and every time. Besides, if I could do it myself I would. I really don't mind cleaning.....in fact, I used to sort of enjoy it!

I think you're getting a pretty good deal. We have everything but my dad's office and the store room cleaned in my house...and I think that's $115 every two weeks.

I usually drag all my baskets of yarn and totes of crochet projects and my rolling laptop desk out of my bedroom so that my floor can (hopefully) get vacuumed. I put my junk in my dad's office since it's not getting cleaned.

It sounds like your cleaner is a lot more thorough than the cleaner my parents hired for our house. She wants to charge extra for baseboards and doors. (geeze!!!) She does the baseboards in the bathrooms because I commented once, that when you have guests in your house, and they use your bathrooms, they'll sit there and look at the dust on your baseboards in your bathrooms and wonder why they never get cleaned. The rest of the baseboards dont even get touched.

I've been wanting to get our oven cleaned out, but no one in my family can get down onto the floor long enough to reach into the oven to scrape all the burned stuff off, so maybe we'll schedule a special cleaning for the oven, and see if she'll do all the baseboards in the house while she's at it.
