Sending positives thoughts, vibes and a prayer for a positive outcome in the job search/interviews for your DH. We just went through that 6 months ago... thankfully we didn't have to relocate. Although we may after the email Sec. Gates sent out yesterday!

Cathy - where ya looking? If it's Tampa/St. Pete area - I'll trade you some Shaner's shrimp Kabobs for Tony Packo's Pickles!!! We got a condo on Treasure Island.

The new power plant in Lakeland's gotta be a labor draw...

The shipyards near Jasksonville might be a draw.

Do tell, my Toledo buddy!!!

He's looking at 2 jobs, one in Satsuma one in Jacksonville - they're both for CSX brige tenders. He even went down to the Satsuma bridge to see how high it is, and how comfortable he'd feel tending it.

He called and said that would be a total dream job, sounded like a kid at Christmas. The guy who works there (yep, he met him and shot the breeze for a while) says he almost missed Dancing with the Stars the other night, cuz he had a big ol' bass on his pole (on the job) lol. And if the tide is right, he might drag up as much as 150 shrip per throw.

:)

The view from the bridge is stunning over the St John - the same manta ray swims by nightly, all the big local birds... ahhhh!

And here I sit, waking up to snow and highs of 40.

:o

He found *the house* I want and took some pix of it. I can so hear my flip flops on that deck. I can already taste an ice cold Guinness... oh wait, that's cuz i'm drinking one!

He also says St Augustine promises the best ghost tours in FL and is bringing home a paper from the fort for me. I wanna check that out.

Only 7 people total applied for the Satsuma job, and he'll find out tomorrow how many there will be for the Jacksonville job. Being from OH may play against him, but the same guy is doing the next interview. So I told him to play up that he's planning on paying his own relocation, the kids are grown and we have the cash stashed to do it.
*keeping fingers crossed*

That's great news, Brain. I hope everything falls into place for you. I've been to Jacksonville many times and the St. John's river is beautiful. We went on a pontoon boat and stopped at a little restaurant on the water.

Keep us posted on the outcome!! :)

I hope he gets the job he wants and you are able to move to the best place for you both..

Hey Cathy.....I'm sure you already know this but I just wanted to remind you that all of your DH's expenses while he's looking for a job are tax deductible. Even if you've already filed you can do an amended return (you can actually do an amended return up to 3 years after you file). It might help you to get a bigger refund. :)
