Default I Hired A Cleaning Service!!

I did it! I finally broke down and had a lady come out from a well-known cleaning service to give me a quote on cleaning my house. I liked her and the prices seemed reasonable so they are scheduled to come this Friday morning for the first "major" cleaning.

This was a long time coming and I guess I finally just gave in. I just cannot do it all anymore....hard as I may try. I'm excited and cannot wait to have an entirely clean house all on the same day without having to spend two days in bed recooperating from it.

This will put a big dent in my budget but I'll just have to make adjustments in other areas.

Just in time for Spring.....which begins on Friday.....I'll have a spic and span house!

congratulations on treating yourself to something that will give you joy, and rest. It was one of the best gifts I ever gave myself. it feels so good when they are all done, and you are not covered in sweat, and exhaustion.

congratulations!

Good for you Kell! I have been deliberating on that very subject for quite a while now. I just haven't taken the leap yet, but housework is getting increasingly difficult for me.

Hope your new service works out well for you.

Maybe, just maybe I should get a quote. I'm just afraid how much it would be and so I don't want to get my hopes up. I have been trying for a week to clean now and I can't manage much of anything. I just cried yesterday because I had to give up and my house was NOT ready for a house guest who arrived this morning.

Yeaaaa, Kelly. My house is soooooo dirty under things, behind things and over things, it makes this clean freak, sick.

I have to do what you did. I know It will make me feel better. I am just worried about being taken advantage of and dishonesty. Living alone can be scary sometimes. I know that my mom was taken advantage of (workwise, timewise, paywise)

Any good suggestions, anyone??

P.S. How do y'all like my new siggy pic? I couldn't resist it...it's so adorable..

If you have a list of the things you want done, they can give you a rough extimate before they come to give you a real bid.

Things like stove, top of fridge, moving furnature and vacuuming under.

If you know someone who uses and an individual, then get a reference and try that. Otherwise go with a liscenced and bonded company. They will stand behind their company name. If you have poor cleaning, they will send someone to fix it.

(I've hired many in the past to clean clubs. )

I have had a cleaning service for 4 years now. Best $ I could spend on myself!

In fact, they are coming today. I love to go out and come back. It is like MAGIC. Poof! the house is clean!

Sally, I went through a Service Magic company called Merry Maids. They also own Tru Green (lawn treatment company) and our lawn is treated by Tru Green so I got a $30 discount on my first cleaning. I'm sure rates vary according to the area you're in but for an every-other-week cleaning they are charging me $90. That works out to $45 a week and I feel like that's reasonable. There is no contract so I can stop whenever I want (or need) to.

My biggest pet peeve is the baseboards and corners. I cannot get on my hands and knees to clean them.

I'm excited!! I'm not worried about being taken advantage of or ripped off. I will be here the entire time, just out of the way. It's a bonded and insured agency. And....the lady that came saw Matt's police car in the driveway so she knows I've got connections............

out here in the boonies, we dont have pro services to help. I have hired local girls since getting here. most are extremely happy to have the extra income, and are willing to learn how I want things done. I did have one set of girls that were just lazy, and kept telling me they did things, when I know they didnt. They would swear they mopped the kitchen, and I knew it wasnt so. I started making lil piles of baby powder under the cabinet edge, and at the end of their last shift, I asked if they mopped. Both assured me they did. I had them hold on while I went to look, and sure enough, there was the powder. I gave them their check, and told them i wouldnt be asking them back. You do have to protect yourself. make sure you dont have check books laying around, or Credit card statements. Things like that should be locked up.

Best money I ever spent.
