I know this might belong in the social security forum, but I never go there so here it is.
Seems "most" people who receive social security disability will receive an additional check in May for $250.00. How about that, we get our own little gimp stimulus package. Not sure how I will spend my wealth but I like it. http://www.azcentral.com/news/articl...urity0414.html

Do you have to pay taxes on it at the end of the year?

Since it's also being sent to retired folks and the elderly, who don't have to pay taxes period, than I don't think anyone would have to pay..
By the way, Sandy, may I say you have the Best Avatar Ever?

I think you will have to pay taxes on it. Time will tell.

Kind of off the subject a bit but amybe not. I remember back when I was working. When you finalyy reached 25 years you got a gift and cash. For 25 years you got $250, 30 years you got $300, you get the opicture. My husband and I both work at the same place and started the same day. That's how me met. So we both got that nice check. He is a very practical guy. If you get an extra amount of money, you just pout it in the bank and it goes to bills. But I said my $250 was MINE! If I wanted to get a round trip flight to Chicago, get off the plane walk around the airport and get back on and fly home then that's what I would do with mine. I did buy an excersize bike so I could hang my clothes on it and some other things. Unfortunatley I quit a few months shy of my 30 year anniversary. He put his $300 in the bank. Boring. He has no imagination. But this $250 again will be mine. I think I am going to put it toward having a nice wooden play set put up in our backyard for when the grandkids come.

Here in australia every taxpayer who earned under 100k last year got/gets a $900 tax free 'stimulus' payout (to put back into our dodgy economy). I got mine today. spent it already though...
