Default Yet another Craig's list scammer-

As you know, I buy and sell on Craig's list. I have an entertainment center ad listed. Today I got the below emails responding to it.

First email received said:

Hi there,I have taken a keen look at your advert and I will be
purchasing this from you if its not purchased yet, kindly let me know
a.s.a.p

I responded that the item was still available. I then received this: (note the name of the buyer is Yoshi so I am assuming she is asian, but still, I can't imagine a pediatric surgeon speaking this way.

Thanks for the response, I'll really like to have the item but i wouldn't have time to be around in person so pls I'll be sending you a Check via my bank for the cost of the item.
Because of the nature of my job (am a pediatric surgeon by the way), I'll not be available to pick up the item myself, with this, I will be getting in touch with a moving company for the pick up for it on my behalf.... I hope you do understand... So I'll like you to provide me with the following information so as to notify the payment for the item..
1.Full name to be on the check
2.Home or work address (Ups doesn't deliver to P..O Boxes)
3...Phone number
4 The final price
As soon as you have cashed the check I'll make arrangement with the mover concerning the pick up. Pls do me a favor of removing the Ad from CL as I'm committed in buying it. Best regard.

Yoshi

I wrote back that I won't accept anything but cash and carry. If she wants to pay cash, and come pick it up, I will do that. I doubt I will ever hear from her again. I can't believe people actually fall for these.

Stay tuned, I will let you all know if she does write back.

Sounds like a Japanese name. It's a male name btw. it means "quiet, goodness or luck". Hopefully the person lives up to their name and they're good.

But, I'll bet it's a scammer. It just sounds kind of hinky to me too.

There are some that will accept a check, BUT they will hold onto it until ALL hurdles have been cleared by the bank. If its written on a big name bank such as bank of america, you can take it to the bank the check was written from, and cash it there. If it bounces, you can deny them the item, and if it passes, (wait for 2 weeks to be sure the bank gets it clear from BOTH ends) then allow the pick up of the item.

Yoshi, should be calling or shopping on places that deliver and accept a credit card. As a pediatric surgeon I would hope he has one. You would think a peds surgeon can afford to shop off of places like Overstock.com or Ethanallen.com style places where they can make special acceptions.

At least he didnt want to send you more than you asked for and have you keep the extra funds. I love that one.

I got that one!! I had a dining room set for sale and got an email (full of grammatical errors) from someone who wanted to pay me something like three times what I was asking for. They wanted to pay first, have me cash their check and then send a truck to pickup the furniture.

I replied to their email, correcting all the grammatical errors, and telling them to take their scam somewhere else. I only took cash. Never heard from them again.
