Default Maple bacon (?!????) donuts?!????

New donut store opened up in town the other day. It's called Swirls

link to their menu

They offer a donut (well, a long john, I think) that has maple frosting and pieces of bacon on it.

For some reason I find this a bit intriguing...even tho it sounds weird. I like bacon. I like donuts. I kind of like maple frosting...sort of. (the maple frosting is the part that doesnt sound all that good to me)

The local news had a couple of reviews.

Maple Bacon Donut Craze

Donuts, outside the box

It's a totally local thing, so I doubt it'll become a chain. I'm going to stop by there tomorrow on my way to get my hair cut and see what the donuts are like. Some of the other flavors I saw in the menu looked kind of interesting.

The maple is that part that sounds least interesting to me too, oddly. I'd rather glaze, or wait! Chocolate! Mmmmmm!

Now if the bacon was maple flavored, yum.

Erin, I'm looking forward to hearing about this new taste sensation. Bacon in donuts sounds strange to me. Now, I love maple flavoring, though. And, I've been tempted every time we drive by Dunkin' Donuts, but so far have resisted.

I'd just about kill right now for a cream filled one, glazed, with chocolate on top.

I have to make another attempt at scoring myself some bacon donuts. (think the bacon is only on top of the donut and not cooked into it)

I got down there, and there werent that many people in the store. Started to walk up to the counter when the guys behind it told me they had sold out and were making more...and it was going to be another 45 minutes.

It was their fifth day of business, so they havent quite gotten used to what they have to have done and how many donuts they need to make.

I ended up going to Krispy Kreme for my donut fix. (so many screaming children there...made my ears hurt!)

I'm going to try again to go to the other donut store during the week with my mom.

At least Krispy Kreme was cheaper...only $7 for a dozen there, the other place would have been closer to $13 for a dozen...and Krispy Kreme gives you a free sample of a hot donut. yay!

I'm going to go get my hair cut and colored. I think I'll take the guy who cuts my hair a Krispy Kreme from the stash I bought this morning. Maybe he'll give me a deal on the hair color if I bring him a tasty donut?
