First official American Death was this past week. It was according to the media a woman with multiple medical issues, and a compromised immune system, who was sick with other things as well. She lives in a border town, and had been known to visit mexico seeking medical things you cant get here in the USA. (dont know what that is supposed to mean) anyway, the first american death has been reported.

The CDC is admitting that they over reacted with precautions, and felt it was better to be safe than sorry. They are no longer demanding that entire schools be closed if any one student pops up with a "probable" case. They claim to be working hard on a vaccine for this disease that turns out to be less severe than the normal flu we get each year in this country.

Did you know during the last Swine Flu (excuse me H1N1) epidemic that more people died from side effects from the vaccine than died from the actual flu itself? Please speak with your MD before deciding to take this or any other vaccines.

Yes, I knew that. Actually, I learned that a few weeks ago. I did know that the vaccine back then was discontinued abruptly due to that.

A friend of ours got Guillian Barre from that vaccine. She recovered but not sure if she was totally back to normal. My Mom had that vaccine and she was O.K. but now I wonder if it exacerbated her CMT. I will not be getting "any" vaccine anytime soon. I'll take precautions as I always have.

It's really sad. She was a teacher here in Texas. They delivered her baby by c-section. She was on life support and in a coma already.

Many people cross the border for medicine as it is cheaper there and for some meds like antibiotics you don't need a prescription. Glasses are cheaper, dental care is really cheap, medical supplies are cheaper. I also know a couple of people and have heard of others going to MX for cancer treatment as they have chemo down there that works but hasn't been approved by the FDA. One of my friends sister had a real aggressive form of lung cancer and went to MX for 3 months for treatment. She has been in remission for 20+ years.

Another man that I know who lives down there part-time had skin cancer. He had it treated down there as he didn't want to go back to WA to see his dr. They treated him and were able leave most of his ear intact. When he did go home, the drs. were amazed and wanted to find out more about the treatments that he got in MX. He too is doing really well. His ear looks great! (Well, the last I saw which was last fall).

We have cases here. I really can't remember how many.

Good friends of ours go to Mexico for false teeth, prescriptions, etc. It is cheaper. They did not this year though for fear of being kidnapped, etc.

They said that there was an elderly man and his son who did nothing wrong (the son was taking pictures like tourists do) but they got arrested and our friends do not know what happened to them other than they were moved further into Mexico (another jail).

Years ago our neighbors went there for cancer treatment for her. She ended up dying anyway. I'm sure there are success stories depending on the situation.

I've been there but years and years ago and that was enough. It was fine enough then but I would not go now for a lot of reasons with the things going on there. JMO
