Just reported that the Swine flu has made it's way to NYC high school students. http://www.comcast.net/articles/news...ne.Flu.States/

Federal health officials said Sunday that 20 cases of swine flu have been reported so far in New York, Ohio, Kansas, Texas and California. Patients have ranged in age from 9 to over 50. At least two were hospitalized. All recovered or are recovering.

Canada is also reporting some cases in Nova Scotia...cant remember if they had anything else.

New Zealand, France and Israel also had some cases.

I guess it's too late to shut down the borders, I noticed that the federal government finally ordered a travel warning to Mexico tho...little late now, it's already global.

I am not worried about myself -- whatever happens, happens. If students are exposed to it, I will be too.

But I am worried about my sis, niece, and bil who live in Austin, Texas. Chris was not feeling well on Saturday, and he just scoffed at me when I told him to go to the doctor's if he had a temperature. Instead they went a a weiner dog race and festival.

sorry, it was CA and Kansas, not tx.

declaring a public health emergency allows them to unlock the stock of tamiflu and other services. they are saying the USA strain is a mutated less severe form of the Mexican version that has killed many. Scary stuff.

Hey, good luck with that guys! Keep it to yourselves won't you?
I've just been wiped out with a bad cold for over a week; why do people go to work with a cold and spread it around??? It makes me so MAD.

What next??? We received sealed packages from the NRC for an outbreak of Bird Flu, should it show up here, but Swine Flu??? Huh?? I've been watching the news and it appears to be spreading faster than they first assumed.

Janet Napolitano, Sec of Homeland Security, said tonight that the borders will not be closed, but that they are monitoring both the Canadian and Mexican border. Yeah, right!

The news said they were asking people entering the U.S. if they were experiencing fevers!! What?? Pretty official, huh?? I'm pretty concerned as my immune sx is kaput and my DS is totally immunosuppressant.

I totally expect the government to screw this up. (because the government always screws things up) Seems like they're off to a good start.

I think they're afraid of offending anyone. I'm sorry, but I'd rather offend someone than allow a pandemic to happen. They really need to shut down the borders.
