I think, since Ohio is one of the States that will have priority for it, I'm calling my Doc, in the morning and see if he will get me some Tamiflu to have on hand, just in case.

I don't go anywhere, so I am safe here at home, until my germ infested, Grands come to visit. Maybe the Doc will order me a mask, too..

I won't hold my breath, waiting for our Govt to help..

I feel your fear, DM and others..

I wonder how long Tamiflu is good for? I have some in the medicine box we have. (it's about a year old now then)

I'm calling my doctor in the morning and seeing if I can get some from him, or I'll ask my neuro if can Rx some when I see him in a couple of days.

My dad works in a hospital, and he has a heart condition, I suggested that he ask one of his doctor friends if they're able to write him a Rx for some Tamiflu too. My parents and I are all not the most healthy people around, so having some Tamiflu around might be a good thing for us. Hopefully it works on the piggy flu.

Thank goodness for the internet, I dont have to worry about going out to rent a movie (yay for Hulu!!), and I have a Kindle, so getting something to read is going to be easy too. I might try out the grocery shopping stuff online too...see what that's like.

I'm hooking up my iMac to my LCD tv so that I can watch movies from Hulu.com on it. Having problems getting that set up correctly, but once I get it figured out, I should be happily and easily entertained if the Swine flu Armageddon actually happens.

Oh I know! Our waitress at Wingers Fri. night kept sniffing her nose while she took our order. When she started coughing I knew I didn't want her bringing my food! The manager assured us he would take care of it, and he did.

Sally, my Dad's family lived through the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918 w/o catching it.

He was 5 at the time, and remembers his mother taking food to the closest neighbors, who had it. She put the food at the gate and shouted to alert them that it was there. After they were gone, the mother came out to get it.

Nobody went to church or school for a time. My friend says her aunt was the first person buried in the Axtell (tiny town in Utah) Cemetery, because the larger town of Gunnison wouldn't allow her body to be carried through their streets to get to the Gunnison Cemetery.

It was a scary time!

Damn, it's crossed the pond to Oz. We're on 'alert', whatever that means. There are 9million doses of tamiflu available for a population of 24million it seems. See what the morning brings...

lots of folks go to work sick because they dont have sick days left, and to call out means a day without pay. Many parents save their sick days for the children, so they can be there, and who wants to call out for a cold? We are living in a scary time when we MUST be hypervigilaint and protect ourselves. I am in scan mode when I go to the cashier. I am looking for who is hacking, coughing, and sneezing. I dont want the bagger to handle all my food, shove it in my bags, and send me home with her flu.

Best advice is dont touch your face unless your washing it. Many virus' get in through touching your nose, or eyes. zip! it found a new home. Wash your hands frequently, and always chose the shopping cart that has been sitting in the sun. The sun is a great disinfectant.

a sneezy/coughing waitress is enough to make me walk away.

Okay, now I'm getting a little concerned. The television stations all have messages scrolling along the top and bottom of the screen about the Swine Flu Emergency declared by President Obama.

I thought he said that it "isnt a cause for concern".

At least that's the quote I saw on CNN.com this morning.

I'm going to go call my doctor and ask for some Tamiflu...

wow, they're closing schools in Texas.

watching the news. They've just announced that the number of swine flu cases in America has doubled to 40, and there are 17 more possible cases. Sounds like it's spreading exponentially. (exponentially means the larger a number gets, the faster it grows) Hopefully we wont have any fatalities from the flu like they're having in Mexico.

If this is going to be as serious as I think it's going to be, I think the Mexicans and the Obama administration have already dropped the ball. Mexico has known about this since at least the middle of last week, but no one here heard anything till saturday or sunday. The American government or the CDC or whoever is responsible for stuff like this should have shut down air travel and closed the borders between Canada and the US, and Mexico and the US several days ago. They should not have allowed anyone in or out of the country.

This is going to cause more than a health concern, the stock market is probably going to have a big drop because of it too. (investors panic when things like this happen)

They just announced that those who recently traveled should watch for seven days for symptoms. Nik's been back for some time and should be OK. I did call Jim's doctor and he'll call me back to see if we should go ahead and get Tamiflu just in case.

I do feel a little better knowing the seven day rule regarding Nik. That doesn't mean we can't be infected but it's a start because that was my main concern.

Wouldn't you know I have a sore throat and was just sick last week with flu like symptoms though? But, I have seasonal allergies and a tummy issue that explains it and no fever.
